Honestly I can't understand why porsche did not put a fuel filter on the 997 dfi engine... it can only be a good thing yes? A replaceable maintenance item... anyone have a smart idea why they chose to forego this one...

It's not user serviceable, there there's a fuel filter in the front low pressure fuel pump.

Fuel filter is located in Fuel Pump and from what I understand, does not need to be changed.

Most DI equipped cars do not have a fuel filter - only filter is on the low pressure pump in the tank, which can be changed.

With current fuel, and components most cars do not require it unless there was a contamination. There is very little steel / rust prone components used.

Generally, cars have what is referred to as a "sending unit" in the fuel tank. This sending unit includes a "sock" ( rough filter), a fuel filter, a low pressure fuel pump, a baffle and the fuel level sensor.

Thus filter in the low pressure pump in the fuel tank can be changed??? Sometimes i think dirt and low pressure from this initial pump is what kills the high pressure pump....
