2009 C2S 186K miles

Thanx for this!

I love the little things... how consumer expectations have grown: "The standard appointments are lush and extensive: two heater/defrosters, padded sunvisors with vanity mir*ror, map and courtesy lights, 3-speed windshield wipers, 4-nozzle windshield washers, chrome wheels, belted tires, two fog lamps, a back-up light, and a beau*tiful wood-rim steering wheel."

Peace

I loved my 1965 911. Was a great driver. Terrible heating/defroster
Simple, less is more design. Great HP to weight ratio.

March 14th 1959

Had a few 1959 356's - My favorite 356 was my Silver/black leather 1959 Super Sunroof that I restored 24 years ago. Was all original and I did a repaint to a very high standard.
Unfortunately when your paint is pristine the idea of driving/parking it anywhere is tough. Still wish I had kept that car.
I sold it for an all original 1953 bent sunroof in Jade Green/Tan leather. Original paint in nice condition and had all original floors w/no rust.

BTW, from the story, "Porsche was understandably nervous about entering the No-Man's-Land market for $9000 GT cars."
Inflation adjusted from 1965 to 2023, the 911's $6500 sales price is $61,240, the $9K Ferrari territory is $85,8000.

Porsche, such a fantastic company, such a solid understanding of what driving a car should be. We named our new puppy Butzi.

Thanks for the post, Fahrer

Thanks for the compliments!! Back in 1995 That Jade Green 1953 bent sunroof coupe was a customers car at my 36 year Indy shop Aker's Porsche. Shop happens to be 5 blocks from my house all these years.
Aker's called me and explained their customer was selling it and it was in their shop for brake work. I ran out the door and when I got to the shop I was amazed at it's original condition.
If any of you have had a 356 or involved in 356 world you will be very familiar with how these cars can be very rusty in floor areas, doors, longiitudinals, door bottoms/etc. This car had clean everything with original paint.
All the *****/gauges/exterior tail lights/hood handle/headlights/everything original. Even the wheels were the correct 16" date stamped. Original jack and toolkit. Interior was a bit worn but the original Tan leather.
A wonderful driver.
Was interesting that the seller was deaf - We met up later that day and I purchased the car for $17,000 cash on the spot. I loved that car. They drive funky and have a bit of "float" on straightaway with the 16" narrow wheels/tires but in the turns they are amazing.
After about 2 years of ownership was when I started getting into the early 911's and got sucked into the greater HP and much better driveability.
I'm glad to have owned it. A great experience.

I remember the first time I saw and add for the 911. If I remember correctly it was for 1967 MY and it was a two page advertisement with a side shot of the car in Popular Science? I think the ad said it could do "140 longer than you can".

At 15, I was wowed and immediately hooked. Some day, I thought to myself.

42 years later I got my new 2008 C2S!

I grew up in North Dakota and my Dad was GM at a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership, so I always had a big connection to cars. Since this was back in olden times, and in ND, for godsake, the big childhood family entertainment was Sunday drives. I'd occasionally get to sit on his lap and hold the wheel like I was driving. Really made an impression.

When I was 15/16, I saw my first 911 drive past me on the street and I thought it fell from outer space. I think it was Sepia Brown. I'm sure I gawked at it, mouth open, as it rolled past. Never really got over it.

50 years later, I finally got mine. Welcome to the Old Porsche Guy Club!
