A Boxster is a Boxster and it ain’t a 911. Well into owning maybe 40 911s or more and have never once wished I bought it had a Boxster.

I am really out of the 997 market now, but I would try hard to find a base 997.2 cab with the 3.6. Can be manual or pdk either one, but it is the better car. If going to make the pllunge do it correctly. This was you don’t have to worry about bore scoring ruining your first Porsche experience.

What are base 997.2 pdk cabriolets with 50,000 miles on them going for these days? The base 997.2 cabriolet is actually a joy to drive. Great car. Used to could get them cheap. Maybe market figured that out so perhaps no longer the bargain they used to be.

I'm solely focused on a 997.1 C2S Cab - Boxster, Cayman, and "base .2" aren't options for me. I haven't pulled the trigger on either of the above yet, but I appreciate everyone's assistance. If anyone has a a lead on a non-black/black (or black interior) C2S Cab in the low $40k range, let me know!

I'd get the lower mileage if price is the same. I traded a 2013 981 boxster s for my 997.1. Don't regret it for a second.

I went through a similar exercise comparing 5 cars. In the end, I had deal breakers (manual, S, full black leather, sport steering wheel, not black, overall condition, service history) and non deal breakers (exterior colour, Sport Chrono, wheels, sunroof, PSE, mileage).

I built a spreadsheet and the one that won had all the things I wanted, in the colour I preferred (Seal Grey Metallic). It happened to have low mileage (8000) which was neither a pro or a con, although I paid a hefty premium for it. It did have a sunroof which I didn't want but think I can live with. I don't think I'll regret not having PSE (might try a Gundo hack if needed).

There was a beautiful low mileage arctic silver S for $10000 less with everything I wanted, but it had the stone grey leather interior, which I did not think I could live with long term.

Try this approach - it might help you find the right car for you. Keep us posted!
