Default 2014 R8

Brothers, I recently drove my brothers 2014 R8 - I got to say, I feel in love, not 911 love but close. I will never part from my 911 - but it truly has me thinking about the R8 - maybe a second sport car? Anyone have experience with? If so, please share.

I've always liked them a lot. Its an understated "Super Car".

It would be a nice stable mate to the 997.

They are sublime but driving dynamics favor the TurboS
the R8 slots just under the Turbo S and above the GTS4 in my opinion
but it’s a great usable sport car

Not personally.

But if you're interested in seeing contemporary comparison reviews from back in the day, there's roughly a dozen of them at the following where the R8 was compared against 997 Carreras, Turbos, etc.

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...l-reviews.html

Thanks.

Karl.

A8 or S8 is more usable as the second car
also less conspicuous

I drove a gated 6speed V10 R8 Spyder for a few weekends. 2011 I think I was. Amazing.

I believe I drove the same car back in 2011 too, silver (press vehicle for Audi at the time). A friend of mine won a weeks rental.

V10 tied to a manual transmission - an amazing combination. Also, unfortunately a thing of the past.

Almost pulled the trigger on one. Feels more like a GT car after driving the 997.2. Not bad, just different. The gated manual is amazing and once you get it, there's nothing more satisfying than that click sound.

If it was a V10 and I had the space, probably would have grabbed it.

Love my 2011 V10 Spyder. Perfect addition to my 997. Got the 997 first and glad I did not get rid of to get the R8
