Cab roof recalibration
Good day all -
2010 997.2 C4S Cab. Left rectangular "latch" that is the last component to close (driver's side) - does not close all the way when attempting to open roof - and of course get roof not locked error. After taking to local convertible roof expert - per local dealer direction (they said they outsource most of their cab roof issues to them) - they were able to fix through adjustments - then after 1 or 2 tries at home - back to not latching. The specialist then recommended that I get the roof synching sequence re-calibrated by the dealer through the computer (said left side final latch was slightly off in timing) - which the dealer said they could do.
1. Anyone familiar with the initial issue?
2. Any experience with the re-calibration fix? ( saw in 996 forum but couldn't find here)
3. Thoughts on next steps should this not work (i.e. easier to replace a certain part or something at additional expense for a longer term, more reliable fix)?
Thanks for the group's feedback.

Unfortunately my cab's at the body shop for 2 weeks (finally getting the low-speed rear impact damage repaired), so I can't go get detailed pictures. The latches are mechanical, and driven together, so if one side is not latching and the other is, odds are good it's something with the linkage. Look at parts 5 and 15 HERE --that's the latch linkage. Mine lost that tiny clip (#5) on one side, that linkage popped off, and the latch wasn't locking. Fortunately it was when mine was closing, so the top cover just didn't seat completely.
Here was my thread on this issue: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...-rod-clip.html
Recalibration is easy--just find someone with a Durametric or a PIWIS -- you just run the cycle. I'm pretty sure the latches don't run independently though.

I have done the calibration process with PIWIS. It's really easy and quick. Takes about 10 minutes tops. Are you referring to the little flap cover that closes next to the rear passenger seats?

Thanks - taking to dealer tomorrow to run through the re-calibration.
I am referring to the "clam" component on the driver's side. Now what is happening underneath that - I don't know but passenger side is closing fine - driver's side leaves a slight gap - and thus not closed error - tried to depict in photo I marked up from a random online car:

Helpful again thank you. I have shared with my tech lead at the dealership.
I assume fairly easy fix to access and re-attach clip - if that is the issue?

All- just as a follow up - calibration was conducted - no impact. Tech said the motor or "pump" was perfectly fine and did not require replacing. He said something was mis-aligned and he would need to take apart to figure out and to just start replacing parts one by one.
If you go up halfway with the roof and then bring back down once or twice - it will lock into place properly - so the decision is to live with that for now or spend (up to) 5K to fully remediate. I am taking the former for now and will have to live with it.
