Tire Rack Sold To Discount Tire
I've been buying tires from Tire Rack for years and years. Buy for Porsche, Airstream, Mercedes.
I ordered 4 new tires for my Mercedes SUV 2 weeks ago and you have option to ship directly to Discount Tire for mounting which I did.
Mounting appt today and found out Discount Tire owns them now.

Happened 2 years ago. Ive actually had really good service from DT. And have ordered from TR and shipped to DT with success. Surprisingly they don't seem to share stock and inventory as their tire availability by size and type isn't consistent across each site.

Hopefully the pricing does not go haywire - in the wrong way...

Les Shwab is great company and my go-to. Discount tire a few rungs down but since it was convenient to ship tires direct and save some $$ on install I went with DT.
A ferw mentions about DT:
1. Made 11:15 appt. and arrivbed at 11:00--->Started mounting at 12:00 (Not great but I understand backlogs)
2. Went for walk and they have texting service for pickup - When I arrived back at 1:00 I noticed them pulling my car out of garage and many nail/needle type pieces scattered all over the ground in front of all 4 garage bays?? WTF? Turned out they are tire plugs.
So the tire plugs have nail type needles sticking out and they let them fall on ground?? Service guy said yeah we sweep them up at closing. These could easily puncture the tires? (seems illogical)
Also noticed tire weights and other tire related debris scattered all over the entrance area of garage bays and all over the parking area - Sort of what you'd see in typical low end car lot.
3. When I drove off I noticed the TPMS light on.---> I drove back and they forgot to do a reset. They fvcked around with the settings and now operating fine (Les Schwab would NEVER forget something like this)
So overall tire price was great $644 for all 4 tires which was about $300 less than other competitors + $119 for mounting/Balancing for top quality Continental SUV tires. But the service and quality of workers a few rungs below Les Schwab. Les Schwab runs a quality higher end company with perks like coffee/snacks in waiting area and just all around quicker prompt service with lifetime free flat service.

I just take my wheels off and take them to the tire shop. Prevents damage to the PCCB rotors and then the spacers are a non-issue.
Most of my tires come from DTD and I have their credit card only for tire purchases that gets an extra 5% off.

Some DT locations here in Atl will not balance after mounting.

I know Les Schwab will mount/balance tires with wheel spacers. They will also add wheels spacers at customer request if cutomer provides them.
Had spacers added to one of my 997 C4S's a few years ago.
...I forgot to mention the free Les Schwab popcorn too

Am sure it does very much by location, but my local Discount Tire rocks. They've earned my business based on their quality service and timeliness.

ALL news to me. I need to get out more. Or just pay attention. I've been ordering from T/R then having an ouststanding local company that does mobile service come out and mount/balance with a nice mobile rig they have.
In these here parts, Big-O Tire has been buying up their competitors.

I have a Discount Tire that I use in Palm Coast FL for my Tundra and my wife's Macan as it relates to tires only. It's a great shop, with great service and they keep it as clean as a surgery room floor. Can't say the same about other DT locations that I've been to over the years.
