Default Is retrofit SPORT option worth it for Manual 997.2?

Price is $1K for the unit and probably $500-1000 (?) for install at dealership, which seems to be a must (i.e. no POR indy)

Thanks!

No, IMO not worth it for manual.

If you want something for throttle response get a Sprintbooster or APR’s new throttle product.

Yeah, I figured it wasn't worth it...but nice to get supportive answers. LOL. I'll look into your suggestions. Thanks.

It really nice to have the sport setting though. It's one of those features that you wouldn't miss if you never had it, but regret it if taken away.

I have a pdk, my default is SPORT but I turn off PASM. I always drive in M and control the gear selection. So effectively, only using it for throttle response.

Whats the additional benefits besides the throttle response adjustment on a manual car?

In the sport mode, the sharper throttle response not only makes your car snappier to drive. The most important benefit of all is when downshifting, the more responsive throttle will bring the revs up faster, thus easier to match rev. In another words, It's easier to perform a smooth hill-and-toe. Also, by going OEM, the integration, not just the software, but the hardware would look nicer, because there is one less empty button to look at. I guess that's all.

There is def more to it than a more sensitive throttle response curve.
Which, btw, I happen to appreciate.

Like @speedracerf4i posted- one has to actually experience before and after install, on the same car, with lots of heel and toe downshifts under pressure. Like mountain driving in 2/3 gear with lots of rev limiter in second and requiring accurate rev-matching so as not to upset the chassis while trail braking and grabbing 2nd for corner exit.

Once installed, yeah and paid for, being able to turn on/off every feature with the press of a button is the ideal.
Turning it on sets a 50% reduction in go pedal travel, so halfway depressed is full throttle.
It's sensitive- yeah, few- if anyone- would drive around town in SPORT mode. Why?

But it also increases the activation threshold of the PSM. The Please Save me intervention is not always welcomed by me.
It is why Porsche gives a 997 Carrera driver, even a base model, a button to defeat it.

The 997.2 GT3, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, and GT3 RS 4.0 all have Traction Control and Stability Control switches.
Some drivers report better lap times with it off, especially in slow transitions.
Others leave it ON in the rain.
Experiment once installed.

I like @speedracerf4i 's second post comment about it filling a hole in the panel.
No doubt I also perform a heel and toe downshift much smoother and with more precise rev-matching with it ON.

I have the APR throttle booster in my S which didn't come equipped with Sport chrono. I have it set one notch up from factory and it mimics the throttle response I have in my base that does have the Sport option.

I tucked it in the floor under center console, haven't touched it since setting it up.

Throttle controller for sure. Adjustable and is always on. It sucks having to hit sport every time you drive.

This is the one I would get as well for the App control vs contorting under the dash.

Great to hear it works well.
