Is there an inherent thing in the design of the dfi that makes it so quiet? I'm hoping to understand the science and concept of why the m96, m97 of the 997.1 sounds so much more intoxicating than the 997.2. Putting expensive exhaust solves it a bit but why does the simple exhaust mod on the older engine produce delectable sound already?!?!??! Is there a simple way to pipe in intake sound into the cabin perhaps??

It baffles me to I have an 11 turbo S and sounds anemic for a car that’s so powerful to sound like a Corolla

Yea, it was the first and most annoying thing about my car... no sound... so I put on the Sharkwerks x pipe.
Reason: Maybe Porsche is conforming to noise standards? Doesn't want to make a special exhaust for each market? Purposefully trying to boost sales of its high-profit sport exhaust?
Peace

That's it. PSE and get rid of the center muffler (the silencer). A lot of options there. Like Prairiedawg I chose the Sharkwerks bypass pipes and obviously my X51 9A1 makes the same music as his car. For someone who doesn't have PSE, for my -09 C4S I had a Tubi system which comes with bypass pipes for the 9A1 engines. A little higher pitch note compared to the grunt of the PSE/Sharkwerks combination but still a great note and a drastic improvement over bone stock imo.
Can't imagine anyone would be disappointed with either solution compared to stock.

PSE + Sharkwerks X-Pipe + TopGear 200cell Headers makes Porsche Music (actually it can be too loud e.g. startup, early morning, neighbours sleeping)
Sharkwerks probably making the most difference out of the above, and relatively good value for money

With my Gundo 2” and BBE X pipe , I start my car with garage doors closed until cat heat up is done. Quite noisy until this phase settles down.

BTW, I have you to thank for providing me with a paper template that was used for cutting out the curves of the by-pass pipes for the Gundo Hack.. Once again. many, many thanks!

The 9A1 sounds Italian with the IPE Exhaust.
I have a Fister and Sharkwerks Bypass and I think it sounds good.
Here are some examples, the first video is my friends camera on my rear bumper for the best up close sound.

BMW gets around this by pumping in fake engine noise through the speakers.

When I had the X pipe and bypass on my car it sounded terrible to me, I actually was embarrassed. To much of that typical Honda fart can sound.
removung the x pipe and just running side mufflers with the bypass is perfect in my opinion.
