Rennline Carbon intake for the 996/997.1
Hi Folks,
Got an Early Xmas present for the 997. https://www.rennline.com/rennline-99...ntake-sku-m110
Beautiful to look at as always from Rennline.
Install took about an hour in total including the removal of the stock airbox.
Step1: Removal of stock 997.1 S airbox ( already had the resonator bypass with IPD Plenum and 83mm GT3 throttle body and a K&N drop in panel filter).
Step2: Assembly steps as per instructions provided.
Step3: A little finessing with the Silicone intake tube as its designed for the stock Throttle Body, It does fit with some stretching, Rennline is making a new Silicone elbow for GT3 TB folks like myself (in development).
Step4: Enjoy the new look in the engine compartment and dont forget the beautiful resonance sounds of a Carbon intake.
Step5: Does it actually make any more power, i would say yes ( prob 5-10 hp). But its really about Throttle response and mid range smoothness. The Top end is also more improved as it is eager to get to the redline. But the sound is why its worth it to me. ( sorry dont have any audio clips- prob wont capture the frequencies over an iphone)
Stock 3.8S airbox with GT3 TB and resonator delete.
IPD 83mm silicone removed
Rennline Carbon intake seperated for Airfilter install
Airfilter installed
fitting the stock sized silicone tube to the 83mm TB
Finished product before the MAF sensor install. Keep in mind the MAF has moved a little further away than the stock position, not sure what slight tweak that does to the fueling. The car is running well and most importantly sounding great.

Its very nice buy we all know Porsche's engine compartment was never a pretty one unless its a Ruf/Gunther/Singer ect. ABS would be more affordable {and sellable}.

I have the PSE on it so that has its own Howl in the mid and top end. I find the intake adds a gutteral sound ( keep in mind its a cone filter on the inside) but the hardness of the Carbon gives it a harder tone( like a tighter drum) vs the factory plastic box.
Its cold up here in Toronto, but as soon as the weather gets a bit nicer ill try to capture some audio. Hope the sound im describing comes through.. ill put a mic next to the airbox with the gopro to see..

Yes, thats a good point, not sure why they designed it to have a longer than standard coupler. Its one less bend for the carbon i suppose.
Yes, the sound is deeper without being boy racer.

Definitely looks good and looking forward to hearing it. I did think it a bit odd that Rennline apparently has no data to inform customers whether or not it gains/loses power - at least that’s what I was told when I asked about what type of testing was done.

It looks pretty but what's the purpose other than a little more sound ? How much is that thing anyway ?

Update
Update:
Rennline sent me the new GT3 Silicone elbow for an easy fit.
I captured an iphone audio recording from inside the car - back seat.
ill work on getting a better audio clip with the go pro maybe in the engine bay..
i do have headers, high flow 200 cel cats with Xpipe and factory PSE. but the interior sound really focuses on the intake when the windows are closed.
installed GT3 silicone coupler and added some Porsche vinyl lettering.
