Default Sound deadening mat falling!!

Any ideas on how to remedy this small uneventful but annoying failure?? What remedy will last? I'm thinking removing the thing might work but won't the rear deck rattle??

notice the sound deadening material has collapsed and is resting on the intake plenum... more evident on the left than on the right..

X2 brother. I've been looking at this on mine as well. I don't see any stock fasteners in there. I was tempted to remove it the next time I drop the motor and see if I can get some high temp sticky tape in there but will defer to the wisdom of the board for suggestions.

2009 C2S 194K miles

Me too.... I did find that many years ago, I could get it to re-stick by pressing it back up. I tried just last week to re-stick it would not work... engine bay was cold... maybe try with the bay hot and maybe the glue would be sticky again.

I thought about pulling it down and re-sticking it, but then thought about a nightmare scenario of trouble... naw, just left it alone. Could I really remove it from the attachment points or would I need to use a razor....? There are spray adhesives.... Hmmm,,,

Peace

I now know it's a recurring issue with our 997s... let's hope for someone with experience to chime in and hopefully ne able to share what is effective

Fire hazard? Might get some traction with Porsche?

When I bought my 997 from the local Porsche dealer last May, I noted the sagging liner in the list of problems I found with the car. They replaced it for me. While it was free, the invoice showed 2 hours labor to remove and replace. Looks like a tough job but maybe it is not if that is the labor time to replace.

And it's held up? Doesn't look like a workaround kind of job?

It has held up so far and I have put about 11000 miles (17200 km) on the car in 8 months.

Then you have a hole(s)? Pull it down around there, shoot in some spray adhesive, push back up. No?

Peace

This is the best stuff and what I use on hood liners and hood pads that are exposed to engine heat in my front engine vehicles (928s, Cayenne, etc).

Same company that makes turbo blankets and fire sleeving for flammable liquid pressure hoses.

Wonder if the air-cooled solution could be made to fit/work:
