Default Anyone fitted a 997.1 Aerokit front bumper to a 997.2 ?

I'd like to change the front bumper of my newly acquired 997.2 S Coupe.
With the 997.2 aerokit front bumper now NLA (and I wasn't a huge fan of it anyway, added to which it was ridiculously expensive when it was available) I've a couple of options :

1. Fit a Moshammer front splitter.
Not cheap, but easy fitment, no need for paint, it's pretty low and thus likely to get damaged rather easily I'd imagine. But unlike the 997.1 Aerokit splitter, it's not exactly a cheap consumable. But it does look good :

2. Fit the 997.1 Aerokit /GT3 (less upper air duct) front bumper :

The 997.1 aerokit front bumper is my preferred option, but means I can't use the 997.1 OE non-LED front DRL turn signals/fog lights without an error code being thrown up on the dash ?
RPM Technik did a retro Gen 2 car fitted with a 997.1 aerokit front bumper, and clearly managed to get round this issue.

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/por...sr-retro/33021

RPM's press release said:

The 997 CSR Retro is based on a Gen 2 model 997 Carrera 3.8 which has undergone a comprehensive amount of RPM engineering, with all aspects of the car being assessed and upgraded to enhance performance. The exterior was back-dated to Gen1 spec to lose the modern LED lighting and get closer to the classic look.

Has anyone done this conversion, and if so, what DRL/turn signal/fog lights did you use ?

Personally, I think they 997.2 front bumper is one of the best OEM bumpers for the 997. I think it looks better than the 997.1 Aerokit front. There's ton's of people out there running the GT3/Aerokit on 997.1's so for my taste that look is "been there done that" whereas the 997.2 front is more rare and refined.

You can get around the light/LED issue with coding or resistors.

It will fit, and you can call Lightwerkz to help you with the lighting.

Why exactly are you looking to change it up? Getting a bumper and doing it right ain’t cheap. My 997.1 aerokit bumper was about $1,400 and i didn’t have to pay for shipping, work into that cost of paint and labor on a fresh bumper along with new fogs and you’re probably close to 3k along with $200 a season on lips. I’d also recommend a PPF on your freshly painted bumper - figure $2500 for the front clip.

If the cars new to you, I think that money might be better spent on some other mods, and this is coming from someone with 5 figures invested in aesthetics.

This is all to say it’s quite the comparison for a lip compared to a full conversion.

If you want a little more aggressive aero at the front, why not checkout @Emc2design 991 front lip retrofit. I had it before i went aerokit and it’s great. make sure you get the extra “side pieces”. Site sponsors and great folks.

Nothing wrong with the standard 997.2 front bumper, and allied to a Moshammer front splitter, it's probably the best looking OE + upgrade there is, but I do want the 997.1 Aerokit front bumper (without the top vent)

EMC's 991 front lip too is a great upgrade, just not my thing, because ultimately if I wanted a car that looked like a 991 from the front, that's what i'd have bought

A complete genuine Aerokit front bumper retrofit kit with splitter, grills and grill surrounds now costs $1000, shipping is FOC. The car needs paint, so it's a case of whilst the paint roller is out, in for a dime, in for a dollar ...

I don't do PPF, I dislike the stuff immensely, and I certainly wouldn't spend $2,500 on it, because that would be money that could be better spent on other mods
Ebay front fogs $300-400 maximum (thank you for the Lightwerkz tip BTW)
The additional cost to paint the front bumper whilst the other paintwork is being done should be $500 max as the prep work is minimal, and the front of the car will already be stripped.

The car is Guards, it needs to end up looking like this :

or this :

Wrapping it all together with other paint work is how I did it as well - had my hood re-done and also replaced my windshield while i was at it - it was insanely pitted.

Each to their own with the PPF - i'm in the northeast and the roads are just terrible.

Goodluck - I'm obviously a fan:

as well as a fan of making these things our own:

I decided I didn’t like black so I did a full color change on my 997.2 while adding the aero kit. And since I couldn’t find a .2 aero front bumper, even tried the cheap fiberglass version but wasn’t happy with it so sent it back. So I bought a new .1 bumper.
I agree with you the .1 aero bumper looks better than the .2 mostly because of the shape of the fog/DRLs.
It fits the same the cars are the same, there are a couple wind deflectors that don’t come in the suncoast aero bumper package. The factory .1 fog/turn signal lights are expensive don’t forget them in your budget, but will work just fine. I used them without an issue. You could use the cheap .1 Chinese bumper lights that are on eBay and still have DRLs. My DRLs are now in my headlights like a 991 but you don’t need DRLs. Filled the headlight washers. I added the upper vent for the third radiator.
