At 65 y/o I've had so much fun driving all over the West Coast since 1986. Got a little old(Pardon Pun) a few years ago and more happy taking shorter trips with my wife and occassional day drive.
Sore hips/knees from sports leads me to the door of my comfy Mercedes SUV these days. Fvcking old man syndrome

My Porsche addiction started in 1973 (as a 19 year old) when I witnessed the Brumos team win at Daytona and Sebring, then later in June, I watched Peter Gregg drive the #48 BP 911RSR at Le Mans. Fond memories indeed!
Ok, I'm part of this crowd so here goes. 63 now, bought my "dream" car in Sept. '22. Waited a very long time to do so as I had my first drive back in '84 in a brand new Cabrio and said to myself, "one day". I was thrilled when that day arrived and have enjoyed every minute behind the wheel with a huge #$*@ eating grin on my face the entire time.
However, the wisdom and wise side of me has won over and I am downsizing the wheels and rubber on the car. My experience with my '08 C2S is that the stock 19 inch wheels are just looking for a pothole to blow a tire and bend / break a rim. Here in southern Ontario, the roads are not billiard table smooth and I just cringe at the thought of being on a trip and loosing a tire / wheel to a pot hole. I'm going to the base 997.1 wheel setup, that is 18's ( 8 "running 235 / 40 up front and 10" running 265 / 40's out back. I'll keep the 19's for the time being, but I hope to have less "wheel anxiety" going to the 18's. Yup, call me old school, but I'm ok with that.

I first became aware of the powerful narcotic that is Porsche, whilst riding around the locale close to my home at the age of 12, on my push bike, when I happened across a pair of 911 SC coupes parked up. Both had the “Sport pack” Fuchs, tea tray rear spoiler and rubber front spoiler. One was light metallic blue. The other light metallic green. I much preferred the blue example.
I’d frequently ride over to the car park they were to be found in, and just sit and stare at them, wondering what they’d be like to drive, and what they’d sound like.
The latter was answered some months later, when riding around on the sidewalk adjacent to a main street, I saw a wider version of the SC, with an even bigger rear spoiler and even wider wheels pulling up at a set of stoplights.
To say it looked menacing, would be a gross understatement. All the moreso as it was jet black, and it sounded powerful even as it just sat at the stoplights.
I was utterly transfixed by the sight of the car and noise it made.
When the lights changed to green, the driver appeared to fluff his start, and car stuttered as it pulled off initially, then the engine cleared it’s throat, the rear of the car squatted down, and accelerated away in a manner I’d NEVER witnessed before.
With my then young and excellent eyesight (long since gone) I made out the word “Turbo” in small, squiggly letters on the deck lid under the rear spoiler…
I’d had my first hit, and was hooked for life.
It was to be another 27 years before I bought my first Porsche, a 1992 964 RS for $29,000 US.
I figured if I was going to have a 911, it may as well be a hardcore version …
I’ve left the Porsche fold, always to return, a couple of times over the past 22 years, but try as I may, nothing provides the same driving experience a 911 can

76 here (oldest so far( ...started in 87 and have been in a Porsche since them....911s since 1999! Love the car (2010 C4S Cab PTS Turquoise Blue I ordered new) and use it about 4000 miles a year. I own an old CJ that i mostly use back and forth to the beach. Love driving the Porsche as much as I can...when I let someone valet park it they always put it up front LOL!
