Johnny, great location... easy visibility.
I really wanted to conceal mine, especially in a cab because the cops will give you a hard time if you do get popped. Rob

DIY Install update - Received my first speeding ticket in a year or two today... just me and my newly installed V1. As the manual says, if you're the only civilian car on the road for miles in either direction, then you may have no warning that a patrol radar is about to plaster your speeding ass.
Great install, false sense of security. ps - at one point in the stop the officer had his side arm unholstered and in his hand after seeing a sheathed knife near the glove box, standing on the passenger side as he was, as I obediently reached to retrieve my insurance information from said glove box. Needless to say... I was stupified by the event when it happened and I'm still more than a bit surprised. |

I have used radar detectors for many many years. I had an original
Escort probably an antique by now. With instant on radar no detector will save you. If you want to speed you can't be the only car on the road. Need to have warning from the cars in front of you being checked by radar. Also watching the brake lights ahead can give you warning of police on the side of the road with radar turned off. Out alone at high speed you are at very high risk for tickets. Curt |

Nice clean install! Only problem is the radar gun/laser gun is aimed lower than where you all are mounting your V1's. With radar this is OK but not for laser.

Hello All,
I am new to the forum. Just wanted to say thanks again, I just followed your instructions and finished hardwiring my V1 to the GT3. It works very well except I had to reverse the polarity because I cut out the other side of the cable! Thanks again. |

Would love to finally get and have one installed -- does anyone know of a good installer in the L.A. area?

Just wanted to belatedly say thanks for posting this thread! No more wires all over the place...and I now know how to use a multimeter (having reversed the wires when trying to do it the first time).

good job. a couple of observations thought.
i would think the lights are already fused (from factory) hence you would not need the fuse. that locations gets a lot of heat in the summer especially of you use one of those reflective windshield covers. also the rad is in sight to would be thieves. |
