X51 Package
Has anyone had the X51 package installed yet and found a big difference? And if this is too expensive, is there any additional benefit to having the Carrera 997 ECU Upgrade by GIAC with or without the EVO flow air induction? If anyone has had any of these upgrades installed please give comments on your experience.

No one has this option yet as the first cars to have it will be the Club Coupe's (which currently are being built) and then the 997S will get theirs, with only so many being built a year.

Tuners don't have to contend with noise levels, emissions and fuel economy, things they have to consider when importing/selling the cars. Not that this precludes adding HP to the motor without out upgrading the internals, but certainly doesn't prevent added HP being found with improved air flow through the motor.

No question many folks go the aftermarket power route--which is fine. I've been there and done that on other cars--choose wisely Grasshopper. The only issue with X51 is "cost"--would anyone not want it if it cost $5,000; $10,000 even. Hey, it's not like it's the only option that is expensive relative to what the option delivers (Bose springs to mind instantly; how about $500 floor mats; $3400 for full leather which isn't full leather). At least X51 makes the car faster

A lot of times the tuner horsepower increases are at the rpm peak, not the horsepower peak, so you may not get much, if any, improvement in peak horsepower. Of course, many of the claims in the aftermarket are bogus, with no verifiable data to prove their horsepower claims either.

The tuners favorite tool is the highly accurate chassis dyno LOL...total BS. Still waiting for a tuner, any tuner, to post some real engine dyno numbers........................................................don't hold your breath.

I would say without a doubt that the biggest advantage of an X51 would be the reliability. Modding a car is certainly addictive and tons of fun but of the two cars that I've modded, I can't say that either one was nearly as reliable/smooth as stock.
On the other hand, for $16K you'd think there would be a turbo involved!!!! It is the most expensive 26 hp I think I have seen anywhere. So, my 2 cents is if you can afford the option without too much buyer's remorse, then why not!!??

The X-51 performance difference is probably going to be the same difference that exists between the C2 and the C2s. It's kinda interesting that the HP difference is roughly the same between the C2 and C2s(even though the C2s includes a few more goodies) as it is between the C2s and the C2s x51, yet the difference in base price between the two former cars is only a $10k split compared to $17k difference for just the 26 hp difference alone.
