Dealer Giveaways/Spiffs
I should be taking delivery any day now and was just wondering what type of perks or thank yous dealers have been offering lately. This can include anything from free mats and key rings to follow-up gifts, parts discounts, etc.
My best follow-up came from a BMW dealership who followed up with personal notes (several and for some time) from the sales person and a thank you basket with treats for both the wife and myself.
The best freebies came from Land Rover who threw in key rings, tire covers, clothing, etc. All-in-all probably $700 worth of fun stuff I probably wouldn't buy myself.
Personally I'd be happy if Porsche would give me a diecast model of my car. I like to keep a collection of diecasts of everything I've ever owned - that are exact matches, model and color. Since I'm getting Atlas Gray I think I'm out of luck as I haven't seen that color on any models anywhere.
Sorry for the lame topic, I'm just doing everything I can to keep from going insane these last couple of days. I hate to admit it but I've taken to making vroom, vroom noises lately.

You might ask your sales guy if they do as other dealerships do in giving out some freebies. That might put some pressure on him/her to do something like that for you since apparently you are expecting it. And precisely because you are expecting it and they are also expecting good scores from you, you might find yourself with some niceties, if not your diecast model.

When I bought my first Porsche 5 yrs ago I got a ton of freebies from my sales guy.
- The Tequipment Cabriolet Detailers Kit that comes in an aluminum case.
- The Tequipment Bra (it's still in the box, never taken out, anybody interested?)
- The Tequipment Car Cover
- The clear side markers
- A can of Plexus
And, a nice exotic plant that was deliverd FedEx to my home!

I got not one, but two Porsche key rings - woo hoo!
However, about three weeks after delivery my salesman sent me a laminated "Certificate of Authenticity" (birth certificate) for my 997S. Classy. And much appreciated.

UPDATE - I AM A PORSCHE OWNER - Almost
I got a call today and my car was ready early. Just signed the papers on my 997S with the finance guy. It was in the show room all polished up - gawd I love Atlas Gray.
My salesman was out today and will be "delivering" the car tomorrow. That's when he'll get a chance to make me "happy." He is going to have some work to do as they installed a front license plate which they had been told not to do. So he'll get to make that right and then make up for it.
Tomorrow I'll actually drive off in my car. I don't know how I'll sleep tonight.
Pictures will follow as soon as I can drag myself away from the car...I'm thinking February...JK.

i got quite a bit as well as the discount on the car; an umbrella to fit into the passenger side door sill, a die cast model of 997 carrera s abt a foot long, some porsche t shirts, couple of keyrings, 30pct discounts on my birthday for: my carbo tech cigar ashtray and lighter, travel humidor, 911 watch, passport wallet, and other stuff from the drivers selection catalogue. mind you the mark up here in singapore is huge so i expect what i got was equivalent to loose change. cheers. henry
