Default Finally made a decision !!!

Firstly, a big 'thank you' to all the regular Rennlist contributors for the advice and insights that have helped me finalize my spec. I plan to celebrate the arrival of my car in April with signing up for full membership!

I firmed up my 997 order today. I was on the fence between a C4S Coupe or C2S Coupe. I decided on a C2S Coupe. It was a very hard to choose between the RWD and 4WD, I drove both a few times. In the end I felt like the RWD drives nicer (more classic 911 like) and also (IMHO) looks better proportioned. It will initially be my daily driver and I plan to keep it a long time so I went for what I think is a classic timeless look when picking colors and options.

Any major thoughts on adds/deletes before the spec gets locked in???

997 C2S Coupe
X1 - Artic Silver
AP - Black Sports Seats
P01 - Adaptive Sports Seats
XSC - Porsche Crests in headrest
XLF - PSE
482 - TPMS
M6A- Mats
022 - Black Dials
390 - 19" Carrera Classic Wheels
460 - Sports Steering Wheel in Smooth Leather
385 - Self dimming mirrors

Other options considered (with reasons why not selected :-)
XRP - Wheel spacers (IMO a must if I decided on C4S, not needed on C2S)
750 - Painted Side Skirts (a must on a light colored C4S, not needed on C2S)
AT - Black Full Leather (a tough one, my car needs to be fairly kid-proof, scuffed leather on the doors and rear side panels would drive me nuts)
342 - Heated seats (I don't have them on my 986S, and don't miss them) I could be persuaded to add this one back in.
425 - Rear wiper (practical and a little retro, but spoil the lines a bit) I could be persuaded to add this one back in.
640 - WART (no thanks!!)
670 - Navigation (getting a Garmin Nuvi 350 instead...it's better (??) and portable.) Could be talked into adding it back in..maybe.
XCZ - Sports shifter (my wife would have problems with this. When I get my next car, and keep the 997 as my toy, I will retro-fit one)
680 - Bose (PSE is the only sound system I need !!)

Thanks again for all your help over the past few months.

Looks like a nice car. Options to each their own one point though you do not need the sport seat option and the adaptive sport seat option. Its one or the other. If you are getting the steering wheel anyways I would opt for the thicker wheel.

I salute you for having the cajones, P-nuts, for daring to buck the trend, to swim against the stream, to be your own man.

P-Nuts - if your kids are still in diapers, the "rear wiper" could come in handy!

I wet my pants laughing when I saw your reply....I guess that means I need the 'front wiper' option (option code PEE :-)

Forget the Headrest crests and get
CPT Storage Lid Bin W/Porsche Crest $290
You can see it as well as touch it, a nicer touch!

Get Nav you've got the screen, make use of it and it works very well!
Heated seats are great and cheap ( on a frosty So Cal morning they are great)
Bose is nice as well

As long as we're Jonesin'...

I did both the crested storage lid AND the leather fuse panel cover on my 996 C4S Cab ('04). Could not stand the black fuse panel on my beige interior. Have headrest crests too. Yeah, crazy, but I loaded the beast up a bit (PSE, a few other goodies).

Enjoy the car. Unless you are in a relatively hot area (75 at night all year), I'd do heated seats in a heartbeat (can't add later). Thicker wheel for sure (I did, and I love it on the 996).

Congrats!

Agree with mJones and Eric on recommending CPT....would make nice consolation prize if you don't get full leather.
CPT matches your adaptives and door armrests perfectly meaning you get the good hand-stitched leather.

Re: full leather-- I had two small hyperactive children in the back seat three days a week for six months straight.
Made them take their shoes off when they got in , put em on just before getting out, the full leather held up fine
never a smudge that didn't just wipe off. So personally I wouldn't forego full leather for that reason.

Bose is worthwhile for the cost involved.
good luck, nice color & wheel combo .

full leather Makes the Car.

Sport Shifter is so sweet and really isn't that hard to shift. Should try a Tremec 6 speed in a vette. Makes the Porsche sport shifter feel buttery smooth. Truthfully, it really isn't notchy at all and the shorter throws are nice.

I would have gotten TPMS would it have been available at the time I ordered my car.

Black guages are easier to read. I bucked the trend as well.

I put my car away all winter but I still got the heated seats. I used them a few times and they were toasty.

Congrats on a sweet ride.

Navigation and heated seats are nice options to consider. Probably would get TPMS. Full leather is nice but $$$$. I ordered it anyway.

I got the center console in aluminum look, it goes great with the leather and other aluminum look parts on the dash. Probably a little over-priced I think, but so was all the other interior options.

I thought I had paid too much for FULL black leather. Now I am very glad I shelled out the bucks for it. I am totally amazed of the quality and workmanship.

Whoever does their leatherwork is truly a gifted artist.

My wife digs the heated seats...nuf said.

If I had known about the Storage Lid Bin w/ Porsche Crest I would have certainly gotten it. The headrest crests are hard to notice in a closed-in coupe. In a cab, yes, in a heart beat. Like Jonesy, if I had to choose between one or the other I'd get that custom leather lid with the crest. But as long as it didn't matter budget-wise, I'd say throw in the kitchen sink too and have it all.

Heated seats a must (this is also great for resale value as the new owner may live in the cold)
Sport Chrono
Thicker Steering Wheel
I have the logo on the seats and the deck lid... both or nice but if you want to cut, cut the logo on the seats.
