Default Alternative Solution for Front Plate

I've been running without a front plate for a few months now waiting to see an alternative to the factory plate installation on the front bumper. I stumbled on this solution that's engineered for the C6 Corvette but will work pretty well for the 997.
The web site is www.topflightrepro.com and it's part number Removable Bracket P/N 0010003-1 . I think it looks good and was easy to install. Certainly the car looks better without the plate but I want to prevent the potential for tickets and stops by the Police as others have experienced. Let me know what you think.

That's a great looking solution, Bob in NY, but probably not so much for the guys with the X-51 or Tip options (center radiator).

did you have to drill holes in the bumper, or does it clamp on?

I bought the removeable version with very aggressive tape, no drilling needed.

stickshift964: I've seen that mount in person, not bad but having the plate on the side of the bumper looks a little odd to me. Better than the on bumper alternative though

yes, but on my car the open area behind the plate is just a dead space.

Hate the idea of a front plate, but that is the best option I've seen, Bob in NY! Nice work.

I worked on a similar approach but from the top so no holes are visible. I have it on hinges. Still playing with it when I have more time. You can get an idea from the distant shot.

Looks good Dan, I think this is a great opportunity for a someone to design a product for the 996 and 997. I would think the sales could be pretty decent. Maybe a project for Eric at bumperplugs??

That's the best solution I've seen yet Bob. Nice job. I think it's ok for you to post the vendor's name. That's different than a vendor coming in and advertising without paying up as a sponsor.

I still refuse to put on a front plate. I'll wait until I get nailed, possibly more than once, before I cave in.

OK, the company is www.topflightrepro.com Keep in mind that this system is designed for the C6 but installed upsidedown and mounting from the bottom rather than the top lip works well for the 997 as you can see from my pictures.

By the way, the part number is <Removable Bracket P/N 0010003-1>>

Check your state's plate requirements. Find on internet. Mine are very explicit and have some loopholes. IOW, I can put plate in windshield (on dash) as long as it is vertical and not sloped back. This arrangement might work for somebody (maybe no passengers, or passengers are blind).

Why wouldnt this work if I have a tip? This plate mount doesnt seem like it would block airflow anymore than the standard factory/dealer mount?
