Cab owners: Wind deflector question
I driven with it on. I've driven with it off. High speed. Low speed. I honestly don't notice a whole lot of difference with or without it.
And I really prefer having my back seats open. Makes the car feel more open and spacious.
My previously owned BMW 330 convertible was significantly less windy with the wind deflector on. But I just don't notice much difference with the 911.
I'm just curious how other cab drivers perceive it? Please comment...

I don't like it at all. I prefer the more open feeling without it. Mine is buried under a pile of junk in my garage and I'll have to dig it out someday when I sell my car.

I had it on my 996 cab and thought it make a huge difference. The amount of wind coming from the rear of the cabin was reduced significantly.

I prefer the roomier feeling with it off and the rear seat backs up, but I do notice a difference in wind disturbance. Removing and storing it and then installing it is just enough of a pita that I just leave it in almost always.

HUGE difference whenever I let my hair grow longer, less of a difference immediately after drastic haircuts. Generally, I drive to school with the deflector up (windows down) and I can walk right into the classroom with my hair being just fine. On the way home, the deflector is down and my hair gets all messed up (and I don't care, of course). Maybe the height thing does play a role (I'm 6'4).

I don't have it on my car. I think I had it on a couple of times but only put it up when my wife requested it. I prefer the open space and it makes it easier to put things in the back seat.

The wind deflector does a fine job of eliminating buffeting when the top is down. It is well constructed of folding aluminum tubing and mesh. The drawbacks are:
-Even though the unit is of quality construction, it is unattractive mounted on the car and impedes access to the back seat.
-When folded up into its carrying bag, it is nearly the size of a suitcase & takes up half the trunk.
-If the seat is put all the way back, it interferes with the wind deflector, rendering the deflector useless for taller drivers. PCNA is aware of this misfit problem with the part, but has not corrected it.
Something better is needed. Around half of the 997's are cabrios, so there must be a market out there for a more effective wind deflector.
