Default 2006 Cayman/C2S mp3 capability?

I have both a 2006 Cayman S with the CDR-24 radio plus the disc changer and a 2006 C2S with nav and changer. Both are supposed to play mp3 cds. I cannot get either to do so. I am trying to play them in the single dash slot. I have burned them on different cds. I have burned them on a pc and a Mac using different programs. I have read many posts saying that both radios should be able to play mp3s. Is there some light that can be shed on this by anyone ?
The nav unit is the newer style with the SOS button.

Your car might require a software update by the dealer, my 2006 C2S plays MP3's fine.

Perhaps your problem is how you burned the CD. Did you save it as a data file?

Try the burn at a lower speed.. like 8x or 12x or lower.. I have heard some burns at like 45x have caused problems..

The CDR-24 is not MP3 compatible. The only way you can play MP3's is with the PCM and that actually only applies if the software revision is beyond 2.1.

You can tell the software on the PCM by pressing MAIN & TRIP together which should show the info at the top of the screen.

How do i get it to 2.1 ?

Can the dealer do this as a reflash for the firmware?

I was in for an oil change recently and the mechanic indicated that Porsche should be releasing soon an adaptop to allow the PCM to connect to an ipod. Can't wait to see if it works ok.
