Default Pole: Pirelli tires with nails , how many people have gotten a puncture ?

I have had two rear Pirelli tires suffer a nail puncture and it seems like there are a lot of others that have gotten a nail puncture. So is there a problem with the construction of Pirelli tires. Lets find out how common this is , maybe Pirelli needs to do something about this (for u$ ).

i have had 1 pirelli with a nail and 1 michelin with a nail.
i dont think that is too bad.
the pirellis had about 5k miles and i have had around 20K with different michelins .
both nails were picked up while the car was in the bodyshop.

Both rear Pirellis punctured. Left side had two holes one as big as the head of a 16 penny nail. Went to Michelin and have no problems.

A nail will go through any tire if hit at the right angle. It has nothing to do with who made the tire.

If there was a technology which could magnetically attract nails to a tire, Michelin (the biggest) would have it first!

I believe there is some technology so that a tire can resist punctures. Firstly a tread pattern that resists standing the nail up , density of the compound , weave of the metal structure. These are areas Pirelli may be lacking in.
Michelin owners , prove me wrong.
Or could it just be that many of us live in new neighborhoods with on going construction and a lot of nails on the road.

If there was anything wrong with Pirellis they would NOT be a Porsche OEM supplier. All of the N-spec tires are extensively tested at Weissach. The fact that someone had a nail in their Pirelli and they haven't had one in the Michelin yet doesn't mean a darn thing. Nails in tires are random occurrences.

Front driver's side nailed --- of course, right after I had just replaced it at 5,000 miles after smashing a rim in a pothole.

I've had 2 nails in my Pirellis.

Wait, I have Pirellis on my car. They must be worse than Michelins then.

Pirelli doesn't have this market cornered. I just got a nail in my left rear Michelin. I might not have detected it right away but the TPMS flashed that I was down 4 pounds. New tire from The Tire Rack is$509 plus shipping, mounting and road force balancing....Ouch!!

Don't forget to add $75-100 to repair the damage done to your rims from dismounting and mounting.
