Got a tip loaner
and I must say I'm lovin it. It is such a pleasure not to deal with the clutch in traffic and hitting the button on the wheel drops it into first so take offs from a stop are brisk. I think they have just about perfected the tip and it's a huge improvement from the one I had back in 2000. My next 997S will be a tip (or better yet DSG
) with X51 (to make up for the performance shortfall) and sports Chrono etc.

My 997 is the 1st sports car I've ever owned that wasn't a stick. I got the TIP due to traffic congestion, and I'm glad I did. But, there are a couple of points about the TIP I've never seen anyone address.
1. It is not intuitive in knowing what gear you're in. With a stick, your hand tells you what gear you're in by resting your hand on the stick and feeling where in the shift pattern you're at. The TIP just has that very small readout on the tach--hard to visually pick up quickly, and you have to take your eyes off the road and focus on the small readout. Yeah, you can hear the engine revs, and tell if you're high or low in a gear, but which gear. And, sometimes you can't hear well with all the noise.
2. I've seen people's comments where they'll criticise the toggle switches on the TIP's steering wheel, and say that the paddle shifters are better. What I've never seen addressed is the fact that the paddle shifters are downshift on the left paddle, and upshift on the right paddle. This requires shifting using BOTH hands. The Porsche toggle shifters are upshift and downshift on both sides of the wheel. You can shift with either hand,up or down, as the wheel turns. I've driven sticks so long that I'm used to just having my left hand on the wheel, and resting my right hand on the shift ****. With the toggles, you can do this. With paddles, you can't.
IMO, the biggest drawback with TIP is item #1. (And, I'd like it to kick down to 1st gear, not 2nd, when you slow to a stop.

I have a g-tech and have it set for 6,000 rpm. The light
will come on at 6,000 and will start flashing at 6,500rpm. This
device helps alot at the track. The lights help alot when your in a
turn. I know your not suppose to shift gears in a turn but the
tip lets you.
The Ferrari paddles work so that moving the paddle towards you shifts up
and pushing the paddle shifts down. One guy on this forum changed
his tip buttons to paddle shifters.
Downshifting into 1st works on my car. If you have the PSE button pushed,
the car really shifts down fast.
