Default My baby got a boo-boo

Last night coming home to our new house Our previous house had no side walks, this one does...

I hit the curb part about 6 inches from where it flattens out to the driveway. Both right side tires and wheels got munged so I'm looking at 2 new wheels and tires, and the tires are new so i don't get to replace all four.

I'm bummed, anyway just curious what should I do about insurance. I have Geico, is it worth filing a claim?

I'll post some pictures (maybe) when I get out of my depression

I understand the wheel damage, but how does hitting the curb ruin the tires?

file the claim. Check your deductible but 2 wheels and tires will certainly cover most decuctibles and then some.. I filed an ins. claim for a windshield this year. $500. out of pocket but the bill was over $1100.

I don’t think it was curbing a wheel in the normal sense by being parallel to the curb but by hitting the curb straight on or at a more perpendicular angle. You damage the tire by pinching the side wall of tire between the wheel and the curb. I had to replace a right rear tire on my wife’s Mercedes GL550 with 21” wheels when she missed the driveway going into a gas station.

Sorry to hear about it Kurt.
P-cars fortunately can be fixed up easily enough.

Sorry for the little accident, but two words come to mind: upgrade wheels.

be careful with the insurance claim. it may drive up your rates so that in the end you end up in the red. many states allow the carrier to increase your rates based on claims paid.

ask your broker or agent before making the claim.

1. Sorry about the accident, it hurts to have ANY defect in a nice car.

2. Post up the pics so we know what you ate talking about. Did the tires go flat? Did the rim crack? There are wheel guys that can do a great job of repairing cosmetic damage for not a lot of moooooola if the wheel is still functional. These guys usually make the rounds at all the dealers each week.

3. If the wheels work, i.e. are not cracked it would surprise me if insurance would pay at all.

4. What did it do to ypur tires, again pics would help.

Kurt, really sorry to hear about that...but as others have mentioned, look at it as an opportunity to upgrade! She'll be better than ever.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much replacement wheels cost? (I'm asking about OEM wheels, btw). I sometimes wonder about getting 18" Carrera III wheels just for the heck of it (test them out and compare vs. the 19"s that I got).

Thanks all for the kind words, and thanks for the pic Gerald, lol!

Yup hit it straight on about about 10mph or so, I was in a hurry and came into the driveway too fast. Yup tire damage was where the rims were pinched.

Now I know the feeling, its like loosing a loved one but hopefully only a week or less.

That has got to be THE WORST 996 I have ever seen!

Wheels can make a car look even better - didn't think they could make a car look soo bad...
