Default Just got run off the road by an old man...

I went home at lunch to pick up the car (For such a beautiful day) and some old man in a Chrysler Concord needed two lanes (His and mine) to make a left hand turn where I was making a right (No stop sign for me). Well, I notice he's a bit in my lane as I start to turn and realize that he's coming ALL the way into my lane (I guess he wanted to hit the apex) and I was forced to either lose a mirror (Or my rear quarter panel) or jerk my car into the curb.

Ugh.

So now I get to shop around for someone who can repair BBS LMs.

This is a common occurence in Delray beach. Both lanes being used and its a wild guess as to which way they are gonna turn. I always try and remember that Ill be that old someday as well and try not to get road rage too bad.

I'm trying to be empathetic, I really am, but being a CPA, I haven't had a day off since late January and I was preparing to spend my bonus on some car parts but instead, I'll be replacing some part of my rear wheel.

Sigh.

I doubt it. It wasn't a hard hit. It was just a "clump" at around 25 MPH. I just barely clipped the tire/wheel. Another centimeter and I would I have cleared the curb.

Yeah, I think I'm due for an alignment as my coilovers seem to have settled a bit anyway so I'm dropping it off to Porsche of the Main Line and asked them to handle checking out the suspension, aligning the car, and getting the wheel fixed.

I'm not sure these days he really knows his right from his left...

Was the old guy wearing a hat? That's usually a clue that they are clueless on the highway.

I wish that an actual DRIVING test would be required to renew licenses, esp. for seniors...one brave politician tried that down here a few years back, and was soundly defeated for reelection.

Sorry to hear it - why repair - have the guy pay for a new one and alignment - it's his fault...

Agreed. Driving privileges should end when you become a danger to everyone else on the road.

It could have been worse. He could have been driving an SUV or truck like just about everyone does in my area. Actually I'm exagerating since only around 70% of the vehicles in my area are trucks or SUVs.

Some common traits for the majority of these drivers: 1. They have no idea where the right fender of their vehicle is; 2. They believe that the yellow line in the middle of the road is simply a decoration; and 3. They believe that since they have a large vehicle they are entitled to at least 3/4 of the road.
