Default Question for all MY05-07 Owners

Hi All,

Do you switch to the MY08 Maintenance intervals (every 12k miles) or keep follow the original MY05-07 intervals (every 20k miles)?
I got a coupon of a $220 plus tax minor service from my local dealership that expire 5/31/08. I planning to use it next weekend but my MY06 only has 16k miles now and it won't be two year until September. So far I only changed oil and filter twice within 16k miles (at 2k and 10k). I planning to get the minor service done next weekend and then do another minor service at 24k miles then follow the MY08 maintenance intervals from there. Or sure I save my money by keep follow the MY05-07 Intervals? As far as I know there are no major mechanical difference between the MY05-07 and MY08.

We have been following the proper schedual for each year with our services, I havent seen anything to suggest doing otherwise. I am a tech at a Porsche dealer.

I had a break-in change at about 1800 miles and plan to change again in a few weeks at 10k miles, then every 10k miles after that (about 6-9 months). If I didn't drive so many miles I'd probably do the oil/filter change annually, but I'll bet the synthetic oil has a longer life than a year. My car is an '07 C2S.

I'm servicing my '06 on the calendar…every 12 months.
I put about 6-8k miles a year on the car.

And a darn good one, I might add. I do the oil and filter change on my 2006
C4S every year when it is due for the state inspection (about 10,000 miles).

I change oil at least twice a year, but I track the car and figure it is under a lot more strain than normal street driving.

FWIW ... car has 12,000 kms, 5 track days on it, and I have added a total of 1/2 litre of oil to top it up in that time period

Hi Rivan,

I have an '07 and my salesperson recommended that I follow the newer schedule with more visits. Not an issue for me- I had originally planned on oil changes every 5k miles.

Every 5k for oil change sounds a lot like a waste of good oil to me. Synthetic oil is really amazing, but more importantly engines are really built better with little or no "metal filings" versus engines of old. So, I will change oil per the schedule or every 12m / 12k miles whichever arrives sooner.
