Default one more PDK poll since now we know the PDK price

so the PDK is finally here!
let's run the poll again, since now we know how much pcna charges. 7-Speed PDK 250 $4,080
BTW, was reading forza magazine, it seems that ferrari introduced with the Ferrari 355 F1 in 1998, about 10 years ago, what took so long for porsche?

Will anyone buy PDK ~without~ buying Sport Chrono (i.e. launch control)?

Presumably the poll is only for prospective buyers of the new model?

It might be good to have the option "I don't know yet- I'll have to try it out on a test drive first".

I'd get it if the ergonomics of the system were more to my liking.

I will buy a PDK one day, provided that I will still have a 6 speed manual 911 in the garage. Don't think I want to give up a 6 speed car forever.

Good poll. What took them so long is right. I was ready for PDK to be the impetus for my move to the 09. Now that it won't be offered on the Targa for a year or so, my decision is made for me. Plus the unconventional design of the interface makes this a choice I am happy I don't need to make.

I'll keep my 07 as a daily but will buy something other than a PCAR for weekends. Bummer...

After reading the entire spec. on the PDK I really very surprised that the transmission is just an improved Tiptronic. The PDK is not the Porsche version of the Ferrari F1 gear box.

Read the specs, it's a very modern tiptronic.

ahh it most definitely is not a very modern tiptronic...

there is NO torque convertor

Dual Clutch transmission - very different technology, first applied by Porsche 956 c. 1981

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin-clutch_gearbox

distinct again from sequential manuals formerly deployed by Ferrari/BMW

worth noting that both Ferrari in the California and BMW in the latest M3 are introducing Dual Clutch systems...

Sounds like typical Porsche pricing. This transmission sounds almost identical to the new double clutch transmission in the new M3, which I believe is $2,700. Porsche wants $4,000?

ITA had a good question. Will you order PDK without SC or launch control. Most will answer no. Therefore the cost is now closer to 5K!

That makes the price difference even greater between the double clutch transmission on the new M3 and the 911 PDK, because I am pretty sure the M3 transmission has launch control. $2,700 on the M3, and $5,000 on the 911.

Quick Reply: one more PDK poll since now we know the PDK price
