Default Just heard about the 18 year old girl who got killed in a 911

The article says it's a "new" 911 which belonged to her Dad. Apparently, she took it out while she was drunk, then clipped a Honda while she was trying to pass it. What a tragedy to her family... May she rest in peace.

What model was this 911 (could have been bought used), and the pictures look pretty bad (not for the faint-hearted), even though it was traveling at only 100 mph.

This got me concerned. How safe are our 911?

It was all over the OC Register. A lot of crap went down over some crime scene pictures that made it all over the net.

Default I assume this is the story, Not recent

Tragic, certainly, but not new. And appears that alcohol was not involved.

It was more than a year ago October 31, 2006. 996 forum said that it happened last Halloween. Pretty sad.

Aside from when it happened, how did the news affect Porsche's safety issues? When Princess Diana got killed in the MB S class, it questioned MB too.

Guys, no more photos please. OP saw them already.

My concern at this point is with the quality and safety of our 911. Did Porsche issue any statement after this accident, etc.?

What statement is there to be made except offering condolences? She played chicken with a toll booth, is it the vehicle's fault she didn't survive a crash like that? Safety issues? You can't be serious.

It's a shame Princess Diana wasn't wearing a seatbelt during the high speed chase.

Doing 100mph into a concrete pillar... you lose every time. Even an F1 car would probably not save you then, as the tracks have impact absorbing designs. Stupid girl did herself in. I'm not one bit concerned about the safety of the car.

Our cars are some of the safest on the road ... but doing 100mph into a concrete box will get you every time. I think she hit at an angle as the left side of her head was basically missing. If you haven't looked at the pictures (if they are still around), DON'T! I looked at the time and they were images I wish I had never seen.

Why would Porsche issue a statement? Tragic accident but the results would have been the same if she had been driving a Vette - would you expect GM to issue a statment if that had happened.
