I love the new Panamera! I think it looks masculine, macho; I miss my 2001 Mercedes E sometimes, and this would be an awesome replacement. I miss the elegance, comfort, and roominess when I need to entertain.
If I can get around in bad weather as well with a Panamera 4S as I can in my Infiniti FX35, I'm getting one. SUV's are so dangerous due to rollover risk, and handling in general sucks.
The Panamera is a hit in the style department, and if performance matches looks then I'm sold, sign me up.

I just got a promotional thing in the mail from Porsche on the Panamera.
Two 8 1/2 x 11 glossy's labled as the "first official images". Kinda cool.
I really like the view from the front. The rear view is better than from the spy pics, but I just don't understand why they couldn't have given it a normal trunk. It's not like they tried to make the Cayenne's rear look like the 911, why did they have to do it on this model?

Let's not forget that the 928 design by Tony Lapine came to him after several years at AMC where the Pacer, the Matador, and the Gremlin were designed....look and you can definitely see the family resemblance. (I never asked Tony if he carried over those designs).

I actually like the Panamera design and I'm glad it's a hatchback. If you want boring buy a 7-Series or S-Class with a trunk, but the Panamera has the kind of flexibility to it that means you don't have to take something big and clumpy like a sport ute to go on a road trip with family.

I think anyone who doesn't think the economy is influencing 997 buyers decisions is kidding themselves. We've got a fairly decent dual income stream in my household with no kids and no debt, yet I canceled my turbo order because of the economic downturn! I know that I'm not alone.

I have a feeling I (and many others) are going to like a lot more once it is seen in person. Whether it sells is a completely different issue.

I suppose Porsche knows what it's doing re marketing...I think the thing looks godawful, but the other half liked the photos received in the mail over the weekend.
I was sure the 'saggy' revised taillights on both the facelifted Cayenne and Carrera were an effort to tie into the Panamera's...but the Panamera taillights look more like those on the mk I 997.
Oh, and the front is straight from the current Corvette.

That is one of its most redeeming features. I think the Panamera may be like many German cars, they grow on you. The Japanese often develop cars that look great right out of the gate, but often become tiresome more quickly. Many German cars (like the 86 MBZ 300E) are not immediately appealing, but grow to become an appealing design. I expect the Panamera will grow on us.

Not a bad overall design language, but an unusual mix. Hood looks cool in the silver pics.
Some Carrera GT in there-- side hollows(flipped 180'), front face/ attitude (I blacked out panamera LED front lights in pic below).......... combined with a digitally remastered 1960's Jag E-type morphed onto the tail end! Must see in person.
