Dan did you establish that it was indeed- a mistake?
About 2 yeasrs ago, we had a C4S Cabriolet with Carrera Sport Wheels- I was walking around the car just admiring all the little leather and contrasting stitching peices......
\...When I noticed a MASSIVE Wheel Spacer on the Rears............ I mean- this thing was HUGE! After talking to my parts guy, and a couple others I concluded that they (Porsche) ran OUT of the correct offset wheels for the C4S cars and put C2S wheels on the rear - and made a custom wheel spacer!
Porsche doesn't offer (at least to civilians) a wheel spacer that big. Huge.
Before I sold it I pointed them out to the client, and made sure it was noted on the purchase and sale agreement that she (yes, she) didn't care about them.

It doesn't come as a surprise to me, but many custom orders are getting fouled up. Material or color errors inside, and certain options on the invoice but not on the car. It's as if Porsche is transitioning to the second string or something and things are getting missed. At one time it was a well oiled machine.

Well, thats a huge mistake if the car indeed left the factory as a 4 (did you peek into the front trunk to verify it is a 4?).
The lettering is in the right spot... but the wrong decklid.
How did that: 1) get bolted on by the assembly guys, and then 2) get past the final q/a check as well. Maybe no one checks for it because they think no one would make such a huge mistake.
I guess I'm glad my car arrived exactly how I ordered it. The certificate of authenticity arrived today. Not that I need it - the sticker says the same thing.
