Default Need Help ID’ing Mystery Part

I found this part in the glove box when I bought the car. Any idea where is goes?
06 Carrera 4 cab

The previous owner had a hardtop, could it be from that?

Thanks for any clues

It's a hamster neck-brace.

Easy one. That is for the Cab hardtop to sit on over the canvas top.

Out of curiosity, what happened to the hardtop?

The hardtop-equipped cabriolet takes two of these. You place it upon the aft side of the two mounting holes after you take the plugs out to protect the canvas from being damaged by the hardtop pins as you are mating the hardtop to the car. On 996 cars these parts are permanently on the canvas area. On the 997s they are placed by the owner each time you mount and dismount the top. I could always use a spare!

The previous owner kept the hardtop, so if you see white turbo driving around with a midnight blue hardtop, thats him.
