Default Perspiration On The Seats--Does It Hurt The Leather?

This is a bit of an odd question, however, I am sure a few
of you can relate.

I go to the gym about five days a week. Most of the time I
shower after a workout, however, sometimes I just dry off
an head home to take a shower.

Anyway, on the drive home (about 5 miles) my driver's seat
is wet with perspiration. When I pull into my garage, I
wipe them down.

I am concerned the seats will start looking pretty rough in
a year or two.

Is this in my head or is this valid point?

I'm paranoid about this so I sit on a towel on my way home from the gym but I doubt the perspiration will damage the seats (may make them stink a bit though).

The salt in your perspiration will dry the leather over time, making it brittle, less supple and susceptible to cracking.

Either use a towel or treat your seat with a leather conditioner every few weeks.

That's what I always say. However, a few Rennlisters
have given me heck for saying that.

According to these guys, women don't see Porsches and the
only reason you should drive one is because of
they are a superb vehicle.

Nevertheless, there are a number of reasons I have a P-Car.

You will need to keep up on the leather treatment more than others will have to. No one should simply sit in these seats and do nothing to maintain them.

Do you drive home in the nude? if not, wouldn't your gym clothes absorb most of the sweat? if not, I would look into some botox for your sweat glands.....ha

If it is causing stains, I think the "fart" has crossed over to the "shart" category...

I am runner and would never sit directly on the seat in any car after I run But I am usually dripping wet, especially this time of year. I would use a towel as others have suggested.

Semi-related; what does everyone recommend to use on the seats?

Yes, so I can hang my running shorts off the rear wiper to air dry.
