I am looking at an '08 C2 (4,500 miles) at a local dealer:
- Bose
- Xenon
- PSE
- Sport Chrono
- Nav

Otherwise stock. Asking price is $74k.

Now I know that is too high, so I looked around to compare prices (cars.com, autotrader, etc) and thought I would try Kelly Blue Book.

The retail price ("what a dealer would ask PRIOR to negotiations") was $57,595. That seems low.

KBB did not have an option for Sports Chrono or PSE, so let's round up to $60K.

For an '08 with 4,500 miles this seems low as a starting point. Is KBB below the market, or am I the one that is off?

I also found KBB on the low side when I was shopping. Nobody within the 500mile search range had anything near their suggested dealer price. Maybe a year older will be closer to their price range.

08 C2 with above listed options should be around $60K I believe.

yep, i posted similar thread few wks back. edmunds, NADA and one other (autotrader?? cant remember) were all close, but KBB was 10-20% too low. cant explain it...

Prices do not seem to be nearly this low in my area. I looked at a local 2007 C2 with three times the mileage and fewer options that the dealer insists is a steal at the asking price of $59.95K. Most dealers around here are asking close to $60K for 06 cars, and seem unwilling to come down more than a couple thousand.

I'd love to know where one could find an 08 at that price!

I would also say about $60K. I do not know how often those books are printed. Also the number of cars available on the market seems to go up and down in waves and vary from region to region.

The market is pretty wacked right now ---hence values are all over the board. It is hard to pin the right price by using an online source. Try using ebay (completed listings) and or cars.com; auto trader to get what is being asked for cars in the market. You can usually subtract 5-7K on cars that independent dealers are asking....this is usually their mark up.

When I bought my 2008 C4S Cab a few months back from a private party, my negotiated price was right between "Good" and "Excellent" condition under "Private Party Value".

Edmunds pricing was higher.

KBB used to be on the mid to high side. Lately though, especially for the 997 they are way low I believe. I have seen cars sell for 4-5k more than what they said it should.

kBB has been super low lately.. my 05 cab went from 48k to 39k in a week on KBB...

I have NEVER been able to use KBB on a high end car. They have no idea of the market on these cars.
You just have to kind of get a feeling for the market. Thats easy to do on RL.
