No, I did not have the headlights done. Plexus keeps them clean and I haven't had any issues with rock chips on the headlights. The installer suggested this cleaner and i've used it ever since. I travel across the St. Johns river to work in the wee hours of the morning and the insect level is atrocious in the warm months. Keeping the plastic parts, including the clear bra, coated with Plexus simplifies the cleanup job later.

As others have said, the installer is the key. The individual I chose was highly recommended in other forums. He traveled to my home and spent all day performing the install. The results were very satisfactory. The main thing I had to do was prep the garage (vacuum and dust) and keep the car in the sun for a few days after the install to let the bra cure properly.

i have had it done 3X in 74k miles. i took it off 2 weeks ago and it will not go back. you will never be able to have the car look as wonderful as it could with it on. I have had great installers and have had accuguard and 3m and one other, they all suck: roflmao:

To the OP, I have no personal experience with a clear bra, but do have good eyesight. They apparently function great on any paint surface, but they don't look great on any paint surface. If you have dark, solid colors you can hardly tell they are on, in fact sometimes you have to hunt for the lines. On the other hand, they don't look so good on lighter colors and especially metallics such as silver shown here and become obvious! The reflectivity of the metallic is different, especially in some light situations. Just the nature of the beast.

I removed the clear bra off my new CAB within days taking delivery, never had one on my other Porsches, didn't pay for this one, would never intentionally get the clear bra. I cannot understand why anyone would want to take away from the beautiful Porsche paint, and look of the car. The clear bra lines are painfully obvious.

Actually, in the link you are referencing to - what you are looking at are shadows that are casting a mattish look to the paint. Below are some pictures of all darker colored vehicle taken in direct sunlight.

Here are some photos of a full vehicle wrap taking place. Photos are taken indoors and under fluorescent lighting to show the reflective qualities when a combination of good film and installation are in place.

Yes, that was my point, the film disappears on dark colors

Lighter metallics just show the film reflectance differently than the paint surface.

I had my 997 Turbo done over a year ago. Couldn't be more pleased. Had the entire front end including mirrors and headlights. Looks beautiful and I can't imagine not having it on my car. If your in the LA area, the guy who works magic with clear bras is "Bain" @ dozadesigns@yahoo.com

I have clearbra on my midnight blue 997C4. Entire front including mirrors but not headlights. Looks great, and it's hard to see any difference between the regions which have it versus don't have it. Too many rocks on the roads in Colorado to even think about not having it.

The primary reason people hate these things is that they yellow, if they scratch, it is hard to get the scratches out, you can see the seems and that in most cases, you get this disgusting orange peel effect.

With that said, my car is in right now, getting a clear bra installed. Here is why:
• Llumar makes a new film, guaranteed not to yellow for 7 years.
• The Llumar film is clear, no orange peel look
• You MUST find the right installer, see their work ahead of time. The person I am going to locally in Orlando, Florida knows his stuff, posts gallery online, allows you to tour his facility and guarantees his work in writing. Not to mention, gives one hell of a deal for local members of an exotic car club I am a member of. The entire front full coverage, with a complete window tint is $1500.
• To avoid seams, get the whole thing wrapped, just like Joe said.
• If they scratch. Well, there are plenty of tricks to the trade to get these out, but what is worse?… Getting your car's paint sanded or some plastic that can easily be removed and reinstalled.
• In Florida, love bugs rule all paint and if every road is not under construction, the world has ended. Rock chips and love bugs = all the reason in the world to have a clear bra.
• I would bet that when my car is done, you would not know I had a clear bra, unless I told you, based on what I have already seen.

Very interesting observation. The actual point to our post with pictures of black vehicles is because black shows all the flaws / orange peel on paint protection film. Paint protection film, aka clear bra, works best for lighter colored metallic vehicles.

It seems there is a mis-perception that lighter colored metallic vehicles would show the film more than any other color. It is actually quite the opposite, which was why we mentioned that in the link you posted earlier, it shows a silver vehicle, but it is with a reduced sized image with casted shadows. The shadows are creating mattish orange peel effect.

Below are close up pictures of silver vehicles with our installation to make a fair comparison to your observation of how the film looks on a silver Black Series.

You can find precut pieces for the headlights at places like Premier - not a tough install and given the cost of those headlights, I went for it.

Maybe you should get rid of those photo's I linked because these look great in the light they are presented in. DO you think they would appear the same in low outdoor light?
The silver cars I have seen personally, which were NOT Premier, did show color shift and looked as I described and how the linked photo looked, so now you have to open a branch in Tejas so I can have my silver car bra'd!
Thanks for taking the time to explain your position.
