Default Please advise!

I was stopped at a red light yesterday. A car pulled up behind me and stopped. A few seconds later I feel a light impact at the rear of the car. I got out to look at my bumper which was scratched where her license plate holder contacted my car, but it was not cracked or crooked. The driver of the car that rolled into me claimed her foot slipped off the brake. I got all the pertinent personal and insurance info from her. No injuries.

My question is how do I pursue this with her insurance company without my insurance company finding out about it? It won't buff out, so I need to get the bumper resprayed.

Any input is appreciated.

Why are you keeping your insurance company out of it? The last I heard that was against the law in many states. Did it hit just the bumperettes, or the entire bumper?

All you need to do is contact her company and tell them you want to file a claim.
That's it....
If they balk, then you call your company.
In my experience, they will be so happy you aren't claiming an injury, they will pay your asap.

I was not at fault, and I don't want my rates to go up over something like this.

At least you remembered to get her to model for you with her blouse open.

A lot of people forget (or don't know) what their own insurance company is paid to do. They subrogate on your behalf. Your collecting of the information on the party is all you need to do, and then simply call your insurance company. They will handle it all. It will fall under her liability. (Nearly 100% of all rear hits work that way). Your insurance rates will not be affected.

I wonder about that, Dan. I was told by a friend in the car insurance business that your insurance rate can go up even if it weren't your fault. One of the factors is your likelihood of involving in an accident. If the probability is high, then there's a greater chance of you getting hit by an uninsured motorist. That results in a claim against your insurance company, even though it isn't your fault.

Here's what I did. i called my agent and told him I might be making a claim for an incident that had occurred. I then called the other person's insurance co, and told them the info, following up with the forms they sent me. They additionally asked me to speak to them on a recorded line, to help determine the cause, which I did. A few days later they asked me to have my car available to their adjuster, and they paid the claim in full, without any deductible.

I had just come to a stop on a small street, signaling that I was about to turn into a steep driveway. The other person passed me on the grassy shoulder as she hit me. Her insurer told me that they couldn't get a straight story out of her, and I offered a consistent and verifiable version of the incident.

The annual free claim summary--yes there's a free service like the free annual credit inquiry--shows the incident occurred and that my insurer had zero liablilty.

In the past, when I waited for my insurer to subrogate, they invariably failed to find that the claim was 100% the other person's fault, and I never received my deductible--and why would I think they would spend money or effort to argue about something that came out of MY pocket instead of theirs, feckless, greedy whores that they are? That's why I took the short route to her insurer.

Just my two cents. Take the advice of your own professionals on this and all matters.

Sorry to hear that you took one in the rear Jim.
I feel your pain: I scraped my own quarter panel using the Cayenne as a blunt object and had the panel resprayed. Good as new and so will your RB beauty.

Cowhorn-I'm in the same boat. A military attache car from the Indonesia Embassy rear ended me-light damage. Thug driver then followed me for about 10 miles, but that's a different story. Lied about their insurer but I finally got to the right one. Now insurer can't interview the driver because he was probably sent back. If those thugs dont stop this, will turn it over to my insurer. Rear ender not my fault, but no witnesses other than my bumperette!!!!
