A wad cutter and having to be locked up alone with a hungry Riley!

Just think, next week you'll still have your GT3 but the thief will be all out of crack.

And that the thief will likely start targeting more Porsches, as these are potentially more lucrative and now proven easy targets for him, seeing how easy it was for him.

Sad but true in San Francisco. Unless the thief is caught on the spot the police don't have the resources to investigate every car break in. Lost $5k in camera gear out of my car. I actually found the unique combination of equipment ebay listed by someone in LA the next day. ebay says they won't do anything without police involvement. What's the chance of the SF police chasing down stolen gear in LA? zero! ebay must be a great way to sell stolen items.
I have three kids. Whenever something bad happens and it doesn't involve them, I'm happy to pay out my share of bad luck.

I'm completely sympathetic to the damage to the car and glad all will be back to normal again, but here's the rub.
If you left a $ 100 bill on the dash, would you be so surprised that some scuzbag took the opportunity to help himself ? How about a $1,000 ? Facts of modern society are such that cars are broken into for quarters and dimes. Doesn't matter if it's a Porsche or a Honda.....you just can't put valuables of any sort in view and not expect to eventually get nicked. |

Hardly all your fault....but I think you were a part of the problem by leaving a valuable in plain sight.

That's bad. Sickening. Sorry to see that. That's why I get black interiors and black accessories. Slight advantage to foil prying eyes; probably more a superstition on my part.

Then one day I saw some miscreant kid flick his lit cigarette butt into a similarly parked Ferrari. Made me sick. Another bystander saw it too and rushed over and took out the butt. Nice day, sunny, people out enjoying themselves and then BS like that! At least the bystander's quick and decent action made me and my friend feel a little better.

Nugget, so sorry this happened to you. It really sucks when you work hard, buy something nice, and some knuckle dragger violates it.
On the bright side, broken glass leaves no scars when it's fixed, and at least the police did their jobs. A stereo was stolen out of my Honda about 10 years ago, and the Ohio State campus police took the report and refused to take fingerprints. The "officer" told me that the thieves usually wear gloves. I told her I didn't know why they'd even bother, with no risk of being caught.

Sorry to hear this David!
Unfortunately, long after the repairs are made, the inconvenience and hard costs are forgotten... It's the sense of mistrust and personal violation that takes the longest to resolve.... which is the really bitter pill.

David,
Sorry to hear this. I'd love to set some sort of camera in the car that could upload remotely. Not sure if such a thing exists, but looks like a market does. Cheers |

As said, kudos to Houston PD for treating this as a crime. Just as in Spokane, in Seattle, and even its upscale eastside suburbs, the police will not respond to car prowls. But then again, our state sends murderers to the county fair.

More likely than not that the perp was a drug addict.
I suffered a smash-and-grab where the perp grabbed a pair of sunglasses ... prescription sunglasses. Of no use or value to him at all, but quite expensive to replace! I feel for you. |
