Take some advise from a man that has owned 132 different cars in the last 10 years. You are being foolish, try driving your car full out without the electronic nannys, that should make your palms sweat. I am in my 50's and in my 20's I used to race (in well over 150 races), and if your bored you prrobably are not driving the car to anywhere near its limits. I have lost well over a half million dollars on cars in the last 10 years, and it taught me a lesson, if you master the car, then make the car faster, lighter, handle better. Once you have done all that, and if you still want a new experience, well then go for it.

Will A plenum upgrade, Exhaust upgrade , aero treatment Help? Am I being a spoiled brat? Having a true sport car is already creme d'la creme. Why am I not content? Need to see a therapist. Anybody here have this kind of problem?

It's a beautiful sunny day in So Cal and it's perfect for a drive. Maybe I should go for an In-n-Out.

Having got back home after a few weeks of being away and not being able to drive the car, I decided to take some advice from your replies and "drive the car".

As the 1000 mile running in was almost done, over the weekend I gave the thing a blast I must admit that the PDK tranny when pushed hard is quite mind blowing. I took the 4S on a stretch of road that the TT used to have handling issues with... lots of twisties, hairpins, adverse cambers, undulating surfaces etc. The 4S in Sport Plus mode was phenomenal and handled like nothing I've driven. The car redlined many a time and for my level of driving ability and requirements, was not lacking in power or handling.

I also took the car for a casual jaunt (highway and some gentle rolling roads) with my wife and came to the conclusion that the car is perfect for a long cruise. The car is incredibly versatile.

I have a new found appreciation of my car and wanted to thank MyEmily for starting the thread and you all for contributions to it.

Default New found love.

+1^ I took it for a run through Arizona Hwy93. The gentle curves, the rolling hills, the twist and turns gave me a taste of what the porsche can do. Before, it was straight line and oval. This time, the newly paved road gave me a sensations of euphoria driving down the road and taking the curves effortlessly at 100+. This care glides...I maybe guilty driving such high speed on the state hwy. But I found new love in driving my Porsche again.

I too have been down this road. 14 Porsches in last 22 years. Had a 997 C2S Launch car, all bells and wistles, Ceramic brakes, now back to a 1996 993 C4 for last 3 years and love it. Remember that wise Quote[ It is a hell of alot more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow]

I do not think any modern Porsche can be driven anywhere close to its limits, at least not legally or safely, unless you are on a race track. Any street car on a track is a huge compromise. The answer to street driving boredom is to buy a race car and go racing. Only then can you even begin to assess and improve your driving abilities.

I'm glad you saw the light. These cars excel on twisty mountain roads. The lust for power is meaningless, as it is never enough. On a twisty mountain road a Carrera has plenty of torque/power and a more powerful car does not really have much advantage.

If you liked AZ Hwy93, try CA36.

Default impossible....

If your a very passionate car enthusiast...it is near Impossible to be satisfied with a stock base 997.... mod it or upgrade the car to a GT3 or turbo. The want, desire, need to better the car will subside from time to time but will always re-surface.

Base 997 owner here...

Save the $$$ upgrading to a GT3 and use them to add a 993 to the stable.

So tasty that I bought one today!

I had to... deep down I was not content with the C4S I had. I tried to convince myself but after driving the car for another 450 miles... I knew that it was not for me. There were times when I was getting bored driving the car! For me the P car is meant to be an event. The C4S PDK, didn't do that for me. So after consultation with the boss of the household (her answer... "if it makes you happy..." awesome!) and without much fanfare my mind was made up this morning and I called a dealer.

The dealer I bought the GT3 was simply phenomenal and lined everything up in a few hours. I got the deal that I wanted and I am a happy camper.

Congrats on the new GT3, I can understand your obsession. As others have recommended attending the Porsche Sport Driving School is a must. I completed the Masters program in May and it's simply the best time I've ever had in a car. Take an adventure and drive the GT3 to Birmingham and break it in right on a cross country drive. I drove there from NY and it was a great trip. You won't regret it!

Or kick it back really old school. No power brakes, no power steering, no ABS, and no PSM
