I'm curious too. If it's not FM it would be perfect for me. If it is I'll go ahead and get the Mobridge setup with bluetooth I keep putting off.

It's FM modulated. See description from Suncoast part below. The AUX interface for the 997.2 (PCM 3.0) has 3 connectors: USB, AUX, and iPod. The one for 997.1 and earlier years have only two: AUX and iPod.

If you have CDR30, then you can buy this AUX interface, which is a direct connect to CDR30 and shows up as AUX on the display. Note that this one does NOT have the iPod connector and connects your iPod thru the AUX/speaker jack.

Thx, it make sense now. Control by player. I know DICE? make one. But like to have OEM stuff. Bought the bluetooth tookie thru last group buy and haven't installed yet. Didn't come along with instruction. If OEM, at the dealer can fix it. Again, thx for the insight. I was too lazy to dig.

Another beautiful day in So Cal. Time to drive again...

So it appears just to be a repackaging of the same FM-routed system. Porsche doesn't look backward.

Hi everyone. I have the OEM ipod connector installed. Was working fine with my old generation ipod Nano (3rd Gen I believe) but when I tried out my newer Nano's (4th & 5th Gen), they both say they can't charge using the cable. But I can still play music etc

Anyone else have this issue and any ideas on ways to get around this. Presume this is going to be an issue with all new Ipods.

Thanks

Default Ipod Charging

Apple changed the pin outs for the latest generations of iPhones and iPods. As a result, you can listen to music but can not charge using "old" connector. You can purchase an adapter that will connect your latest generation Apple product and allow you to listen and charge your device. Search on Apple site for the connector.

so if I understand correctly, for a 997.1 this devise works through the FM? If that's the case the sound quality will be terrible. I guess another solution is necessary and somehow I don't think Porsche will come up with it. I'm aware of the Denison and Nav tv

On the '09, it's fully integrated and NOT the BS FM stuff.

For the after-delivery-add-on-from-Porsche, it's BS. Get the Dension. Or email me for details.

See the post from MJones below for the part needed for newer iPods.

I have a 997.2 and am using an old Gen 3 ipod (just to leave in the car all the time) with the 2 prong connector, but when I tried an iPod Touch, it needed the 3 prong connector (plugging in the USB cord also) in order to charge.

The PCM system works great for me.
