Help!!! Car does not start after i replaced battery 2 days ago!!!
Hi guys,
need your advice before i call AAA.
Last friday when i opened the car with the key i could tell that the battery was almost dead.
I managed to open the front trunk and when i went to crank the car, it would not work.
I went to autozone, picked up a new battery (duralast platinum battery H7-AGM), swapped battery and it started right away.
Everything seemed to be good.
On sunday I went and started the car and everything was fine but did not go out with it.
Yesterday i did not touch the car and today I went in the garage to drive it to work and everything is completely dead.
I was not even able to open the car with the remote but i had to use the actual key.
To top it off i was smart enough to insert the key and now the key is not coming out.
What could be the cause of this?
Your opinion is much appreciated into this matter.

I would check the simple items like interior lights, make sure the doors were shut, etc. Hard to check now with a completely dead battery.
Search for the threads on how to open the frunk w/ a dead battery, there are ways to do it.

Maybe battery just needs a good charge - but it is also possible it is a bad battery. There are threads on how to open frunk - Id take battery back to autozone and get it tested. If it is good - put it back in - I would also be worried about a drain on battery that is killing it - if you know how to connect multimeter in series with the ground wire to battery - you could measure the amount of current draw when car is off, door open, door locked - and door locked after 30 mins or so when most systems should be in sleep mode. With door locked after a few mins drain should be much less than 1 amp. ( maybe 70ma or so). If you have a much bigger draw than this - you have a short somewhere - there are threads here on how to chase that down ... Basically remove each fuse and test drain in fuse socket. In my case, I had big battery drain caused by bad altemator diodes - alternator was warm to touch after leaving it overnight ...

Thank you.
A brand new battery needs a good charge?
i will research on how to open the frunk and then check connections.
Then take it to autozone to have it tested.
Did not know alternator diodes could drain the battery, that is interesting.
A friend of mine at work just gave me this.
Will it work to open frunk connecting the positive to fuse and negative to ground?

In my experience, new batteries tend not to come with a full charge unless you specifically ask for it. If you're picking up a battery at Costco (for example) off the shelf, those batteries are not at a full charge.
Opening the frunk is easy...now that I've had to do it twice
1. Open the fuse box and there is a orange fuse that you can pull out. It does not come all the way out so be careful not to tug on it too hard.
2. Connect the jumper cable to the negative terminal of a charged battery, just like you would do for a boost and connect the other end to the fuse.
3. Connect the jumper cable to the positive terminal of a charged battery, just like you would do for a boost and connect the other end to the fuse.
4. As soon as you do that, the horn / security system might go off but ignore that and pull the switch to open the frunk.
5. IMPORTANT: Disconnect the cables from the fuse and the live battery.
6. Connect the battery charger / tender to the battery and let it charge overnight or boost the battery and take it to a shop for a full charge.
Hope this helps. All the best.
