It all comes down to either

1) where are you located?
2) is your only or extra car?

My last three cars have been convertibles. Living in California is a no brainer for me. I always drive with the top down and do not track that car.

Having had both a coupe and now a convertible, and using both as my daily driver, it would hard to go back to the coupe. For me, the convertible gives up very little in performance and rigidity to the coupe, but it offers way more advantages (particularly living here in the Bay Area). If I get another 911, it will almost certainly be the convertible.

Thanks for all the opinions. I'll drive both for sure, but I'm leaning towards the cab if I go 911.

If you live in a city with nice weather and don't plan to track a lot, I'd recommend the Cab. The performance envelope for these street cars -coupe or cab- is very high - you won't notice much change in handling or acceleration from the open top, but you will enjoy the heck out of top down driving!

Made the jump recently and love the cab

Default Cab

I have had a older Targa a 993 Cab and now the 997 Cab, it is now in Low 70s at night, i put on the seat warmers, put down the top and I am driving in a dream ! If you have sky where you live, then buy a cab, i just dont understand a sports car coupe. sorry all the coupe owners, but open sky, fresh air, and the sounds of the planet are wonderful

I took the car out with the top down last night. It was about 55F. I just keep the heat set at 68F and the seat warmer on at half power. I plan to take it out with the top down at even lower temp. As long as the air and road are dry, no wind, why not? I love the cab. I just hope my daughter can learn to feel the same

Before I bought mine, a friend of mine with a 996TT cab told me when he bought his, the salesman told him he can have the worst day in the office, all he needs to do is take the car out for a drive with the top down. He said it has been true.

Good luck!

This is so true with any Porsche be it cab or coupe! I don't miss my office, but I sure miss my 911...
