My 2007 C2 is a US import to Canada.
The BiXenons (dipped beam) come on when the engine is started irrespective of the position of the headlamp control knob to the left of the steering wheel. I had assumed that the DRLs would simply be the lights within the curved housing within the front bumper (plus the illuminated side markers) rather than the BiXenons themselves. Can anyone else confirm that my car has been set-up correctly? Ta |

Our (RoW) cars only use the LED lights for daytime driving lights. Maybe it's another one of those US (or Nth America) vs. RoW things......

Just had my DLR's done yesterday. The main bi-xenons are on all the time.

So, when importing a US car all you have to do to pass the RIV DRL requirement is to go into the PCM and activate the DRLs - you're all done, no need to visit a dealer. If you do visit the dealer he will reprogram your PCM so you will not have the on/off option. It is nice to be able to turn off the DRLs in certain situations and the ability is only disabled when the car is actually moving. I discovered this gem when I was test driving a car in Texas. And yes, as far as I can tell - all the DRL on/off does in the 997.1 cars is turn the headlights on/off. The only difference between DRLs and headlights "on" is dash lights. |

Not all cars have the feature that allows the PCM to turn on/off the DRL's. I believe it is an optional feature, at least in the manual it is listed as optional, and one can program those setting to the different keys. My 05 C2 did not have this PCM feature, and I did look for it. My nearest Porsche indy mechanic, who is also a club racer, charged me a whopping $44 (1/2 hour labour) to plug in the Porsche diagnostic tool and turn on the DRL and see any fault codes. I likely could have had the Texas dealer do it for free but it didn't cross my radar at the time.
