New mod - leather PDK shift trim

You basically have to remove the shift **** in order to remove the trim.
1. Put gear shifter in N or D position
2. Remove two (2) Torx-25 bolts hidden under the carpet pile on both driver and passenger side and remove the small carpet-covered side covers
3. Remove two (2) Torx-20 screws securing the radio surround trims on each side
4. Gently unlatch the radio surround trims by pushing it towards the rear of the car
5. Use a trim tool (got mine from eBay) and gently pry up the trim from its base (silver color). Pry it straight up (see the pic below for location of clips)
6. Remove the trim. I find it easier to first unlatch the rear of the trim (the part pointing to the trunk of the car) and pivot it toward the floor, then carefully slide the trim towards you and out of the shifter.
7. Install the leather trim and put everything back in reverse. Make sure the trim sits flush with the base and the clips engage tightly (or you'll have rattles - ask me how I know
)
Make sure you put masking tape on the base (below the trim), the radio surround trims, and center console to protect them from scratches or mishaps.
The picture below shows the location of the plastic clips on the trim.
Trim tools on eBay (search for "trim tool"). I paid $15 for mine.

i have this mod part with me...I am stuck. How do I remove the PDK gear **** ?? Do i just pull if off ? Please help, many thanks.

You wouldn't need any tools for this. It helps to put the gear in D or N position first.

It looks very nice, but as ADias points out, it contrasts sharply with the cheaper slush-finished rear console area. Time to anti-up! Do what Tony suggested for a beautiful center console.

I've been looking to get my rear center console done in leather as well. I contacted Suncoast, but they're having problems getting me a price. Something about Porsche not having part number for the console in leather. Strange - because I've seen many pictures of others with leather rear consoles.
Anyone else order the rear center console in leather as an after sale add on? Cost?

The part number are listed in the PET catalog, so I'm not sure why there is an issue. I got a quote last year about this time, but it's probably not valid anymore. I would expect to pay ~$2.5-$3K from a dealer for the center console, plus installation. The part numbers from the 2008 PET catalog for the 997.2 are below:
