"...the first 911 S model in five years and the first for the 997"

Am I missing something? Or do they mean the first "Turbo S" ?

dealer told me about this.... i guess some really need the extra bragging rights?

if you want the fastest turbo, just buy PDK turbo and add $ to make it an 800hP beast and rape everything on the road...

The article is clearly written by a non-Porsche owner/driver. He meant to say "911 Turbo S."

I'd imagine the resale value on this will be much better than a regular Turbo.

Can the PDK transmission safely handle 800hp?

Damn Porsche: every time you think you have a great car they come out with a better one.

Isnt it interesting that it's no more powerful than the more expensive GT2?? Its amazing how P is able to extract precisely 30hp more than the reg TT!!!

Also does it come w/ floormats?

Of course, I am always interested in all things Porsche, and new models and such.

But the 'got to have 30 more hp' crap is for the birds. WTF are you going to do with 30-50 more hp if you are in the US, street driving, etc?

Really. I love the '09, and having the last of the GT1 block engines is enough peace of mind for me to stay happy for a while.

Not to blow smoke on someone's keen idea that this is going to be a great car (Turbo S), just not something that makes me frothy if you know what I mean.

It's a typical Porsche move: parts bin dump at end of model cycle, make some exclusivity out of it, add a couple of exclusive colors, mark it up the wazoo, and sell 'em.

Agreed, but ever since the 1980's when Porsche got that American CEO, prices have been sky-high for any option.

X-51 is what $16,000? And what do you get? 30 hp? I wouldn't pay the extra money that's for sure.

I do think the best bargain though in Porsche is the 911 Turbo, mainly because of the massive potential of the engine. That is appealing.

Yes it's expensive but still a bargain compared to Lambo/Ferrari etc.

I understand and respect your opinion but couldn't a rational person make the same argument about damn near any Porsche?

Let's face it chaps, most of us aren't really good enough drivers to use all that a current "base" Carrera has on the streets... let alone a Carrera S, GT3, Turbo, etc...

I think the new Turbo S is bad *** and while I'll never own one... I like that Porsche keeps finding new ways to make excite the car enthusiast in me.

I will be placing a order sheet soon.... I was going to build a 2010 Turbo and I was going to have PCCB PTV everything but the RS Spyder Center Locking wheels. Other than the black interior everything is just about where I was going to build the car.If you can order a Normal Interior I would be in Porsche Heaven.

If the Base in the US is 159K and all the options I want for other items are the same cost as current I will get a car for about 1k less and have a Turbo S with 30 extra BHP to the good. I agree with Eric but I really want the PDK due to some personal issues I dont want a 6 speed. If I could get a 2009 in PDK I would be all over it. Dont really care for out of date Auto in the previous models.

If anyone has any information on order items that can be added or changed Please share.

Gj
