Default Sport Classic Color Question

Does anyone know the official color gray of the new Sport Classic? I read somewhere that it was used long ago on the 356. I'm guessing that it must be slate gray, heron gray or dolphin gray but really not sure.

It's not slate gray. It's more like Blue than gray, very light blue with a gray tint.

Someone must know the name of the color.

Not a standard colour, it's actually called Sport Classic Gray.

The mandatory color choice for the Porsche 911 Sport Classic is Sport Classic Grey, a classic German hue that comes from a dove-gray color that the design team fell in love with after seeing it on a Porsche 356.

+1... alexb76 is correct per Total 911's review who also calls the color "Sport Classic Grey". Same also reports that this color code was used on some of the early 356's as mentioned.

This is supposed to be the same color as modegrau (Stylish Gray) used in 1952, also supposed to be the same as the Champion Motorsports color "Man From Chile."

I have gotten two different paint codes and haven't been able to find out anything more about them, but I'm still looking. One code is Spies Hecker POR617. The other is L61H that I got off the Spies Hecker website, but the code isn't pulling anything up. Maybe it's only in Europe?

If anyone knows anything else, I'm all ears. I'm currently trying to paint my VW this color...

Here's the best source for 356 colors: http://www.willhoitautorestoration.com/paintsamples.php

Don't know if its the same, but Dolphin Gray seems very similar.

very cool, thanks for that resource. I went to a paint shop yesterday and actually found, on the computer, a listing for the "modegrau" I posted above. If you type in the paint code without the L, just 61H, it will pull it up no problem.

now the question is, is it this gray or the fashion gray from the 356? I don't know!

I believe "Mode" in German means "Fashion" and "Grau" means "Gray". They tend to combine a lot words together in German to make one word. It's "efficient" ya.

haha, well, I'm sticking with the 61H paint code and hoping for the best. I'm really after the Champion Motorsports gray, Man From Chile, and I think that's it.
