Default Little Pleasures...

It's funny how the little things can provide pleasures disproportionate to any logic... I went for the aluminum-look racing style gas cap on the urging of my friend who said I would be crazy not to. After installing it, my conclusion- I love it! Don't ask me why. Maybe it's because I know I will smile and actually enjoy filling the tank!

The really funny thing is Porsche's TSB on it says that is only to be installed by authorized Porsche technicians. Really?!?

Car Jewelry!

Looks good. Much better than a damn plastic cap!

The only reason that keeps me from buying it is that I'm worried that it may accidentally dent the car's body as it dangles while I'm filling gas.

That does look nice. Gray911 raises a good point. If I were pumping my own gas, I wouldn't be as concerned but I live in Jersey where self service is not allowed

Can someone who has one of these caps comment on this?

Don't see the point since it's covered by a door all the time except when you have an ugly gas hose sticking in you car, & like gray911 I too would be worried about it scratching up the paint.
It takes so little to mess up paint and those foreseen paint scratches are always the first thing you see every time you look at your car afterwards.

Sorry, I love such stuff, but I have to agree that $140 seems excessive.

Beautiful piece of auto jewelry but I can personally think of about a gazillion other things to spend $150 on before that.

It's aluminum "look" - painted plastic. No more chance of scratching or denting than the basic plastic cap.

Absolutely! That's why I said "...pleasure disproportionate to any logic..." Actually, come to think of it, owning a Porsche is a frivolous waste too!
