Default Let the Hate begin

I bought a new 2011 GT500 Kona Blue with Silver stripes and Nav system.

It came down to buying a Ford from the dealership I have worked at for 13yrs. They don't understand why I love Porsche, even though we were a Porsche dealership up until 92.

I interact daily with upper management, and they were informed that I was going outside the dealership to purchase a Porsche. They were ok with it, but wished I had found something from all our dealerships, Toyota, BMW,Nissan, Mercedes,Mazda,Cadillac.

I still have my 993, and I'm excited about the GT500. I probably won't have it a year, and possibly then, a Rennlister will be selling a 09-10 C2S nearby and I can jump on that without going through another dealership.

I will certainly post my impressions of the GT500, if anyone is interested. I had a 2011 GT 415hp car for the weekend and was very impressed by its handling, and power. It had the 3.73 rear end as well. This car will have 3.55.

I opted for the standard GT500 without the Performance Package, I didn't want the track tires and stiffer suspension for daily use, and I like the look of the standard wheels much better. I did get the latest voice navigation and the sync system, which I really enjoy in the other cars Ford builds.

Anyway, I have not moved away from my love of Porsche, just a short detour for a short time.

While I understand your circumstances, I have to say it would tick me off if my employer tried to influence ANY personal decision I was making, especially if it had no effect on my job performance. That said, no hate here. Sounds like an entertaining car and hope you enjoy it. Glad you're not leaving the Porsche family.

Good for you! I think it looks like a great value.

In case you haven't seen it, here's a link to an excellent review.

No hate here........am a big fan of Mustangs. Did they get the problem (whatever it was?) with the aluminum engine sorted?

The 2011 is supposed to be great, addressing the handling issues of the 2010. Should be fun. Enjoy it!

You still have ties to Porsche with the GT500. The new alumium block was created in a German foundry.

Great looking car. good luck with it.

No, I was lucky, my dealership did a dealer trade for it and I am getting it at invoice.(no D Plan allowed) Our dealership was allotted 3 and all are sold. Most small dealers if they paid for the SVT program $2500 only get 1 car a year.
Just about every dealer we contacted would not dealer trade the car off. I got very lucky.

The engines 5.0's and I think the new aluminum 5.4 were recently put on hold for engine noise. They had to go through every engine to check/fix the problem. Not sure what it turned out to be, but now they (5.0's ) are trickling in.

I sat in one over the weekend and was surprised at how nice it was. Shifter is a bit notchy but otherwise it was really nice. They were asking $60k for it.

I will say however that it isn't cool that your employer influenced the decision unless of course they are paying the bill for it. That part doesn't make any sense.

No I'm buying it straight out. They just like us to buy what they sell.

It's a smart move. The current american muscle car revival going on right now is producing some excellent cars - and future EPA regulations are going to kill off this market segment shortly - so while you can get one, get one.
