Um, I beg to differ. I've got mine priced to sell... before I change my mind.

It's seems like that's exactly what I suggested--that an 06 with miles on it would go for $50k, particularly when it isn't loaded.

I don't consider a 2006 with 31,500 as having "miles on it". That's a pretty low number of miles unless you are looking for a museum piece. Just a different perspective I suppose.

$50,500 is a great deal for your car. The wheels are awesome as is the color. As for the mileage 31K that is nothing for a Pcar. It is just getting broken in!! These cars are meant be driven. I think that we determined in another post that it is better mechanically to drive the car often vs. making it a garage queen.
Just my $0.02

I sold my '06 S (nicely equipped/manual trans) 16k miles for $51 in July. The car was pristine & was a fair deal for myself & the buyer. This was a non CPO private party transaction. Be patient. There will be even more deals in the coming months as the cars turn another year old.

There are still many 06 997s with less than 10,000 on them. Those I consider low mile cars. Average is probably 25-50K for that year today. (Most just don't get driven).

Most buyers on this forum are in agreement that you should go with an S if possible. To play the devil's advocate, I see nothing wrong with a base C2 if you find the right car with the right combo of options, miles, and price. I have an '08 C2 cab, and each time I drive it I'm blown away by the competence of this car. I wouldn't hesitate to track it, except that I don't want to mess with a roll-bar, etc. There is a C and D article from the time of release of the 997s lauding the base C2, stating that it's so good they see no reason to mess with anything else. Chip it and put on some track day pads and you're in business.

+1. Although I am not sure about chipping it.

Thanks all for your input. I have contacted one of the rennlister's who let me know about their car and will do so the second today.

I think we will try to find an S realizing that it may not have all the options we want. That being said, a fully optioned base car with really low miles might also make the cut. In any case the search is on with a few good candidates to go see already.

Thanks for all the insights and keep it coming. As I narrow it down, I'll post what I am looking at.

yep. old good rule is not to try to buy any luxury item or expendables on a credit line or loan. use money you own to get toys you can afford.

Agreed! I just bought my 07 911 with cash. I had to save for around 4 years while I drove my 964 which was a great car. Feels good to buy a car and own it from day one. Especially in this economy, too much leverage is not prudent.

Kirk,

First of all, welcome and secondly, you can get a great deal and a well cared for car on this forum. Also, I live in Columbia as well. Hope to see you on the road soon!!!
