Be very careful with that stuff. First of all, understand the leather you have in your car--natural versus regular leather. Aniline leather must be handled a different way. Here's what I can tell you--natural leathers hold up better over time, period. The treated, painted on finishes, do not endure.

hi dan, i guess my car has the simple painted leather. Its sea blue smooth leather. since we all know it wont hold up as good as the natural ones you think the leather protectors used for weatherproof jackets and shoes can give it more protection to at least hold up better with the beating. i am actually placing a towel over the seat to protect it a bit and make it last a bit longer. did not want to go seat cover.

Honestly, the leather on the 997 seems to be fairly durable and will probably hold up to normal use just fine. That said, avoid poking or rubbing the seat with sharp or blunt objects.

The sea blue leather is the regular treated leather. You will find that any of the treatments will affect the leather differently, e.g., it will darken it more where the 'paint' has worn off, and then simply sit on the surface of the paint without soaking in. Treating it early and often may be the secret to those leathers. First, however, test it on a very non-visible area to be sure that you are not going to wind up with a mess. (That's easier said than done, because obviously, the wear areas are in highly visible areas).
