Only in So Cal
One of those extremely rare sights in the world, but to a somewhat lesser degree in Southern California, the center of the automotive world! Returning from a recent PCA concours, a beautiful early 356 in white, followed by #125 959 and then me in trail.
In the second shot is a beautiful bent window 1951 356 coupe.
I have to complement the 959 owner for actually DRIVING his car! (It cost about $250K just to meet EPA standards in the USA, so at least he's getting some utility from it!)

Man that is sweet. Nude Hampster is not the place to live if you love sports cars.

Terrific show, yesterday. Awesome 959...entered full concours and was fully disected. Fun to watch.

Nice pics Dan. I remember well when the 959 rocked the automotive world.
However, the 356s were "split window" through 1952. They went to the "bent window" in 1953. So that 356 is either '53-'55, or it has a split windshield. Have any more pics of it? I'd love to see more.

I'm sure you know, but the Intermeccanica is a replica Speedster from those fine folks in Vancouver, BC. Neat car, though.
Strange to see one, even a replica, without a deck lid grille. Must get toasty in there...unless it's a water-cooled Audi engine. IM does those now.
Here are a couple of shots of the bent-window 356 from yesterday's concours.

I think that was the only old plate they could find for it (1951). I recall installing a windshield for a friend many years ago and his was a bent window 54. So, my guess would be 54 then.

Business end of a 2.85 liter engine. The owner was such a nice gentleman, and enthusiast, that he would start up that engine so that we could listen to that music!

Is that silver lining OEM? Looks fantastic!
