Hey Dave, any dealer updates on your transmission?
1st gear has been a "little balky when cold" since day one on your car. FYI, the Porsche Sport Shift was not factory installed, it was dealer installed prior to delivery.
The other issues are new and IMO definitely should be covered by your CPO coverage....

At least 07 or better its been the same company making the gearbox. Sycros probably have not changed much. Pcna does not fix them the dealer will replace the whole gearbox.
Covered or not I have no comment.

I didn't talk to them all winter. They want the regional service rep to test drive the car and I was just putting her away before the snow. Will be wakin her up shortly - so it's time to push again.
See you shortly.

Grrrrrrrrr. PCNA opening position per mark motors - synchros are an exclusion under the CPO terms. Need to call PCNA tomorrow and see how they justify that. Only exclusion I can find remotely applicable is "normal wear and tear or deterioration of any part" Boy that's a pretty broad exclusion.

So....they claim syncros are a specific CPO exclusion?... or are they saying that if syncros fail during the original "factory warranty", they would not be covered either?
I'd submit that there should be no way a transmission of "Porsche calibre" should experience this form of failure, especially with your low mileage, as a result of normal wear and tear!

I have two questions:
1- Could forcing the car into a gear damage the syncros? It may be caused by the driver (no disrespect, I've done it before as well)
2-Are you sure it's the syncros and not the shifter cables? I had a failing shifter cable, was having so much problem before it snapped finally. When replaced everything was smooth...

I think PCNA would probably say the car was "misused". As far as I know the sychros can break for 3 reasons
-mismanufacturing... rare but possible
-forcing the car into gear when it doesn't want to go or grinding the gears
-poorly adjusted linkage which will trick you into forcing it into gear
If you pay for the work, I'd ask for the parts so you can examine them to see if there's any signs of mismanufacturing.

Once the transmission is warm enough, no noise whatsoever.
I dropped my car off at the dealers. Waiting for them to drive the car tomorrow and see what they say.
