Evolution of a 997 C2S - Street Car to Track Car

Very nice thread, thanks for posting. Some questions:
1. Can you quantify each mod in laptime saved? If so, I would love to know which ones saved the most seconds.
2. Is that a 2007 or 2008? What did you do with the original OEM GT3 Aero wing?
My guess would be tires and suspension made the biggest difference.

Amazing job.
Now that you're so deep into the project, have you ever regret that you want more hp? or regret that the money is better spent towards buying a GT3? (no negative comment intended, just picking your brain).

Wow, looks like you've been having more fun with your car than most of us!
Have you driven a GT3 to see how your car compares to one?
Car looks like a serious track weapon. Enjoy!

I agree about m96/m97 engine choice, it is quite affordable. i asked gt gears about 997 gearboxes as 996 used to have issues but it seems like 997 version is a lot better. only question is - for how long remanned m97 engines will remain at reasonable price level.

1. JRZ Prop DA Suspension
2. RSS Solid Monoball Suspension Pieces
3. Stickiest tires you can get (used ALMS/Patron slicks for me now)
4. Aggressive track alignment (takes 3-5 alignment to star seeing whats best for you, your car, and your driving style)
The car is back in the shop getting a full weld in chromoly cup car cage (with reinforcements) and will be getting:
1. LWFW (light weight fly wheel)
2. LSD (most important for track....been waiting a while to do this)
3. Stage 3 Race clutch and PP
After this I hope the only $$ spent will be on track days and maintenance (fluids, oils, brakes, tires)
I drive against 996 and 997 GT3's and my lap times are close, just as good or faster than those cars on similar tires but dependent on the driver.
This car is like a 996 GT3, but with less top end RPM, but wider.
It will never be a cup car or even close, it meant as a car that I can have fun with at the track and now a race car that will compete in GT3 class at POC and Nasa in 2011.
I plan on keeping this car for many years and enjoying myself... and maybe by that time if I stop spending money on mods and work more I may find myself knocking on the cup car door.. but my skills are not there yet.
I have spent enough money to buy an Audi A3 modifying this car, but its been so much fun.

not for this 2011 season but for nextone i will most likely put in gt gears TBDs so may be at same time I will check on final drive mod, not sure, it is pretty pricey and not a priority by any means. it would be interesting to try a car similar to mine with it installed but so far i did not see anybody having this done.
