Default Difference between 06-08 ?

Any real difference in these cars, beside color choices and wheel changes?
S model is what I'm asking about.
Also I believe the IMS was addressed in the MY06 + correct?

06-08 are same cars.
IMS was 'addressed' only in the way of using new single-row bearing which is hopefully a bit better than previous one but 06+ cars still may get issues as well but hopefully at lower rate. 06+ cars also got important internal updates to electrics, newer PCM sub-version, ECU is different than on '05 997 cars and some other minor things.

Position 10 in the VIN is a 6, 7 or 8.
  • But seriously I do know from year '08 you could order the carbon Sport Bucket Seats.
  • I think at some point the "ECO" button change to "AC off" too. But retained the same funtion.
  • Here is a change most have never noticed on Painted Sport Seat Back cars, from '07 both the back and lower portion of the seat (where the controls reside) are painted, whereas previously just the backs painted.

LOL, that's a nice upgrade Seriously though, I do get a lot of "what the heck does the ECO button do?" questions from passengers.

Yip, bottom line there is really no differance 06 through 08. Concentate on options, mileage, warranty status etc.

Recall that as the 997.1 matured Porsche continued to add to the options list. Also, the maturity of many things came together over time. This is why the basic rule of thumb prevails--buy the newest Porsche that you can afford!

Like others said I'd focus on the particular example within those years. I'd just avoid 2005's.

I just wish it was possible to get better fresh air ventilation in the car in ECO mode. It seems that even on cooler days where AC shouldn't be needed, I can't get cool outside air into the car without opening the windows (or the top LOL).

dammit that maritime blue is really something else! love, love, love that color

I'm still learning my car, and while this is embarrassing, I don't even know what an ECO button is!

Why wouldn't they just call it the AC OFF button?

Probably for the same reason that the rest of the PCM is a nightmare in user unfriendliness.

At least they are consistant in electronic user unfriendliness.

- PCM was updated from 07, it plays MP3s burned on CDs, and some other improvements
- Nav antenna is different in 07+ models
- TPMS becamse standard either in 06 or 07 (can't quite remember)
- All 06+ models (in-service date in 2006+) have update IMS

Some other options became standard in later models. It doesn't really matter for you though, as you can look for the car with the options you need. I'd just avoid 05, and if Nav/stock stereo is important maybe get 07. Someone could detail out more about the PCM changes in 07+.

I have an 05 that I purchased new. I've had a couple of issues but there are multiple comments on this thread noting to stay away from the 05. What exactly should I be looking for as to future problem areas?
